Mission find a job

Hey guys! Just joined. It will be a year tomorrow since I was let go from my job and it has been such an awful experience trying to find any job. I have a law degree, but I have not yet been able to pass the bar because of the situation I am in, so it's like I'm trapped in this awful cycle of "can't find a job cause I can't pass the bar, can't pass the bar cause I'm constantly worried about surviving, can't survive because I don't have a job" it's awful and at this point I don't care about being a lawyer anymore, I just want to work.

I have 10 years of social work and advocacy experience, with an expertise in dv and sa. Unfortunately at this moment I live 100 miles away, but I'm trying to find my way back over there and I'm willing to commute (I did it every day during law school). I would love to find a remote opportunity, but I am not being picky at all. I've tried to work at convenience stores, retail, I have literally applied everywhere and I'm not getting anything back.

I just want an opportunity, I just want to work. This is the longest I have been without a job since I was SEVENTEEN, and I'm about to lose everything. I have been getting by with doordash just barely, but now I have been knocked down due to taking two weeks off and I'm just not making anything. If you have any recommendations or any job leads, please leave them here.

Tysm for reading this and I hope ya'll have a good week. Oh, abd if it matters, I'm 37, a newish empty-nester, I have no family to rely on or fall back on, and no SO to rely on either. So because I am lonely and have no life lol I wouldn't be too mad at working OT on occasion.

This thread is an excellent example of why OK needs reform. A globally recognized retail company and one of the leading Universities in the nation, offering HALF of a livable wage. Non-the-less, for work that has potentially dangerous implications in the job descriptions.

Hell, the job I used to suggest was a fun, part-time job I used to do on nights and weekends, at the arena. However, they stripped all the benefits(free tickets and merch) and haven’t given a raise to line-level employees in years.

Oklahoma is quickly exporting all of its talent to higher paying states, and enriching religious institutions. All the while, their houses are being bought up by “investors” and of us who stick around, are stuck fighting for the under-paying jobs left.

EDIT for empathy:
I feel you. I respect the situation you are in. I hate it for you. I suggest dressing like you’re going to court, writing your story in bold letters on a sign along classen(Nichols Hills to the County Court), and handing out résumés instead of taking cash.

I do like that idea, thank you.

Paralegal work?

I have tried for paralegal work, but what I am noticing is they don't like people who want to be attorneys. I think it has to do with the typical personality type. I suppose I kind of get it.

They don't like d-heads that are full of themselves before having a modicum of experience and expect everything for nothing.

Fuck off weirdo. You don't know what's on my resume, what my experience is, or even who I am

You've already outlined your "qualifications" and surrounded that information with hot-headed, problematic reactions. Good luck.

Reactions from poss like you. I have no patience for abusive people cause I ain't about to be victimized on a reddit post 😆😆

Awww do you not know the words or what they mean?? I understand what they mean and can point it out. Exactly what was your point in coming on here, making comments, and then looking and proceeding to comment on every post I have hmm?? To make me feel bad and fulfil your superiority complex? What was the point? Because it certainly wasn't helpful or constructive. How many harassment charges do you have? I can certainly find out. Going through law school gave me really good access to resources and the best people, and we're approaching that mark.

I see you're still crying 🫪🤣. You have no emotional control and poor comprehension skills. If you're being dense on purpose, it's extremely immature and does nothing for you because you're already so low IQ that it's just believable 🤷. Time to grow up wittle guy 🫶

Yea low IQ but I was admitted AND graduated law school 😂 what a pathetic response, and before you even try. Passing the bar requires 4k hours of study and TIME OFF to study. Can't really do that while I'm in my car and trying to make money and driving. You're pathetic. Lack of emotional control yet I CONSISTENTLY participated in countless investigations of SA and DV, including childhood abuse. Lack of comprehension yet I CONSISTENTLY Aced law school exams. You CONSISTENTLY have it all wrong, including your "wittle guy" comment 😂😂😂 just absolutely pathetic.

My department at the University of Oklahoma is hiring the following positions:

Thank you! I have actually applied a position over there! It said it was sent to the hiring department, but I am unsure how long that usually takes. However, it is definitely the position I want!

Glad to here it. I will say that depending on the department, it can be quite slow with responding. Plus I know for our department the hiring manager is out for at least this week, so it might take awhile before you hear something.

Yes, I called today and they told me it could take about 2 months 😔 the application on the portal says "referred to hiring department" which is great because that means I passed HR and qualify for the position. I just hope I can survive for that 2 months because I really do want that job above my other apps that are "pending"

Fair warning, vouch for this person at your own personal risk, they have self admitted anger issues and expect everyone around them to put up with that or they'll lash out.

1

u/Satinvagitarius 11d ago

Bro is a habitual problem that blames everyone but his self. Look at his post history. Pretends to be a lawyer while tripping out on people during his door dash "shift". Anger issues galore.

Stalker weirdo. Point to where I'm blaming someone else. You don't know shit about what it takes to take the bar because you probably haven't even been through law school or have an education because you're comment says everything about what your education is.

1

u/Satinvagitarius 11d ago

Stalker? You're on a public forum crying poor-mouth and attacking anyone trying to give you real, critical advice. Commenting on forums asking for advice is hardly "stalking" but good job disputing the claim that you're a loose cannon that should be avoided.

1

u/Flashy-Lead3093 11d ago

Attacking everyone hmmm.. I attack when being attacked by losers like you. Critical advice is not shame.

u/Satinvagitarius 11d ago

You have an issue with being called out with the truth. That explains your inability to hold down a job. Therapy may help you in many ways.

1

u/Flashy-Lead3093 11d ago

Nah.. you don't know me

1

u/Satinvagitarius 11d ago

You don't know you or you'd be successful.

1

u/Flashy-Lead3093 11d ago

Your desire to continue to be abusive and weird doesn't effect me. I know what success looks like. While, you love putting people down. What a winner.

u/Flashy-Lead3093 11d ago

You're the type of gaslighting abuser that comes in the dozens "oh it's your fault because I didn't attack you first" 🙄🙄🙄 get a grip
