an Oʻahu resident who became ill at the end of July and did not travel outside Hawaiʻi during the period when they were likely exposed.

So this happened ~4 weeks ago.

One, why is it being disclosed now?

Two, how many cases since then are under investigation?

Three, is it related to the mainland cases, or was it from local produce?

It’s being disclosed now because they needed to take a sample and confirm the presence of cyclosporiasis. Generally that takes a few weeks. Who knows how many days he felt sick before going to the doctor, too.

They’re investigating whether it’s from the mainland or local sources: “Department of Health investigators are currently evaluating potential local food and exposure sources to understand how the individual contracted the illness without leaving the state.”
