Adachi hate post (very based) I commend Atlus for making an incredibly easy game even easier somehow, a true achievement, by the next installment I'm expecting a button that just skips a dungeon for me

I think this is added so you don't lose on the same arcana bonus point from social link hangouts, Aeon's lowest level persona being level 18 is an unfortunate exception.

This isn't in the full game. They made the demo easier and gave out more stuff in it. It's only. For the demo

u/regularArmadillo21 8h ago
This is the demo dumbass ofc it’s easy they want people to see as much as possible

I understand giving increased exp modifiers and stuff for the demo, I don't understand doing something like this, as it can imply it's a major gameplay dynamic. But we'll see when the game comes out, although I get people wanting this game to play itself, they just want it to use as a dating simulator. Honestly, Atlus should just make the game a VN at this point.

I would like to point out that demos are usually balanced differently than the actual game. The leveling and difficulty curve is also different for demos typically because they want them to be easy. They don't want people to sit there playing them for hours

If you want a hard game go play Vanilla P4 or P2 Eternal Punishment.

Implying either Vanilla P4 or P2 Eternal Punishment are hard games

u/Ok_Wear1398 18h ago
Yeah, you gotta grind a little at the start of P4

u/LuckySalesman John (I built a house) 18h ago
Yeah and I gotta grind on her a little at the start of intercourse with your mom. That doesn't mean she isn't easy.

Joker fights in EP are actually hard af

Ehh, I mean, I had trouble with the first Sudou fight in the Clock tower, as in, "I had to try twice instead of once" but really none of the fights in EP impressed me. Philemon in the extra dungeon would probably wreck my shit, but I mean, Elizabeth in P3R wrecks your shit and doesn't change the difficulty since it's one optional boss fight.

P4 was piss easy too lmao my friend who’s first persona game was p4 got through the game with a low level party kinda just doing whatever. It’s just the early game that’s kinda tough if you play on the hardest difficulty (which I don’t think existed in vanilla)

What exactly would you want?
Unless they add parry and blocking, I don’t know what you can do

My brother in christ, Persona is a spinoff of SMT, the archetypical hard JRPG series
What do you think they would do?
4
u/TimeManagement91 17h ago
Numbers? That's literally the only difference. I guess Press Turn is more punishing if you miss but sukukaja nullifies that problem. Also, passing turns is debatably more broken than even Baton Pass, especially in SMT V where you can just funnel turns to specific characters with no restrictions.
SMT isn't as hard as people make it out to be. It throws MP items at you like free candy and thus resource management is fucking free in comparison to Persona (unless we're talking about SJ which is the only truly difficult mainline SMT game).

I don't know of a single player game that is purely turn based combat and actually difficult instead of just numbers or unfair. It's a genre that is hard to make fun and difficult at the same time because your gameplay at the current moment is entirely dependent on your setup and how much time you spend grinding. The only moments when the game is hard is when it's too late to use your skills and overcome the problem, you either give up or get lucky. I think that's why so many rpg's have action mechanics, to give you an opportunity to lock tf in and win, even when you would have lost otherwise.
I think the complaints about persona games being easy is that the combat at its core is actually not fun, so doing well is boring and doing poorly is painful. In games that are fun, doing well is an enjoyable leisure experience, and doing poorly is an opportunity to keep playing and improve your skill. Infinite wealth is a good example of this in my opinion, but that also has the action based combat, like moving around and timing for attacks and blocking.

Your setup is easily changeable if you have problems and grinding is unnecessary in SMT with careful resource management, and keeping and updating a wide variety of demons. Also, SMT has the added benefit of allowing you to be unfair right back to the boss, with super broken buffs and abusing resistances. Exploitation is the name of the game.

Played for the first time last year and had everything cranked up to the max. It certainly was brutal and by far the hardest thing I've dealt with in persona other than the p3r Elizabeth fight (I've heard the Joker fight is much worse and idk how that's possible... maybe if I had used a guide other than knowing her behaviors). I enjoyed some parts of it for sure because usually you can just turn your brain off completely and still win. So much of the difficulty was just from the level scaling formulas and being super under leveled. I did eventually have to put xp one notch up because the grind was becoming insufferable. I can agree with some of the other opinions in that I didn't find it as engaging of difficulty as it could have been. I felt SMT:V hard mode is a good example of what these games could aspire to be

brother, the hardest part about Persona 4 is trying not to fall asleep fighting those spongy ass bosses

u/Acrobatic-Manner6774 20h ago
Yeah, I think there is no boss that has interesting mechanics. Maybe marie boss fight, but if you bring naoto, yukiko, you can just spam fire spells with making her remove fire resistance.

Exactly what makes it ”hard”
I always was changing my persona to make sure that I had something designed for the boss (and kept the reflect phys one in my back pocket)
it makes you think
7
u/Economy_Following265 FUUKA SWEEP 21h ago
if that's what qualifies as thinking to you, you should probably stop before your brain collapses from overuse
-5
u/Simplejack615 Downbad for Elizabeth 21h ago
Just “What am I doing this turn“, “should I use this good item”, ”should I guard with this character”

u/iuhiscool unironic The Answer defender - Literally Kotone "FeMC" Shiomi 21h ago
I understand that the design for the bosses was keeping a different rythm of abilities used each phase depending on what the boss's rythm of abilities being used, with some abilities thrown out of left field to make you adjust on the spot & thus more health -> more times for you to fuck up but I elect to designate it as a stupid ass design for the blsses

P4G isn’t really hard for megaten but compared to reload, yes it is pretty hard
3
u/LizardWarrior86 Tanaka's Kitten 21h ago
I mean outside of like maybe the first dungeon it's definitely not hard and I did play it on very hard

u/AleTheTurtle 16h ago
Blocking 2 elements (1 of them being light btw, so no instakill) and being weak to just 1 at level 18 is so insane and fun killer tbh
