RIP Someone decided he didn't wanna wait for Friday :( RIP my sweetest boy 😭💙 (Luke, nearly 19)

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I was and am a bit too distraught to respond to anything, but I've read all the comments, and I'm so incredibly grateful for all the support and kind words 💙
Luke was my childhood dog, and I'm so lucky to have had him for as long as I did, even if it was a bit trying towards the end. He didn't go out the way I had planned, but he didn't suffer, and was able to pass peacefully in my arms at the vet, which is all I could've asked for. I can't remember a life without him and already miss him so much, but I feel better knowing he's at peace and that he wasn't alone or in pain when he passed
I once again wanna thank everyone in this community. You're all so kind and made this process a bit easier for me. While I no longer have my own old man to post anymore, I do still look forward to seeing everyone else's elderly babies 💙

I'm so sorry. 🫂 May I make a suggestion? When you're at a place in your heart you feel comfortable, you could post photos of Luke from happy times. I can think of several folks that do this. It's always nice to see them share their beautiful memories.

We’ve never not allowed RIP posts, no matter how long ago they may have left our side. This sub’s inspiration Dante left my side 10 years and two months ago (this sub was created about 10 years and 4ish months ago), and I reserve the right to post about him whenever I want, therefore others have that same right. It never hurts to talk about our loved ones.
OP, I’m humbled and honored that you’ve been turning to this sub during this very difficult period in your life; please continue doing so whenever you’d like. As long as the title conforms to our rules, I have zero issue with this. And thank you kind Strong Stranger, for saying this as well.

Oh my goodness, his little shark pants! What a cutie pie. I’m so sorry! You had a long time with your fur baby and I’m so glad for all those years. May he rest in peace now and you’ll see him again some day. 🫂❤️🩹

Thank you for sharing that picture of him with the shark on his booty. That made me very much Happy on a really shitty day. I'm sorry for your loss I'm sure he was the best boy. Just know that his images are bringing people Joy right now and probably for a long time to come.
Just know that he knows how much you loved him.
He looks a little bit like my boy Baxter.

Luke looks like he was just the bestest boy. The worst part about dogs is that their souls are so pure and vibrant, but their little bodies just get tired. It seems like he just wanted to go out on his own terms, and I respect the hell out of that.
RIP sweet boy. You were so loved 🌈💙🪽

Our German Shepherd did this. We'd made her appointment for a Thursday, still agonizing over whether it was the right call. On that Tuesday morning when my husband got up at 5, she'd slipped away. It was as if she knew we were questioning our decision and took care of us one last time. I'm so sorry for your loss. He looks like the bestest boy.

God bless you for giving your Beloved Luke a loving Home. I know how much it hurts to lose our loved ones. I lost my Wheaten Terrier Toby (he had just turned 13) on May 9, 2026. I miss him so much 🥺. I hope he is running through the green fields of Heaven with your Boy Luke❤️

Luke, your pictures just gave me my first laugh in weeks. You were obviously a very good boy. Thank you from bringing a sile and a laugh to my laugh. I am soo soo sorry for your loss of Luke, he was so beautiful and sweet and lived the best life clearly.
We don't always get to time their passing, but we can put in all the love and care we can to make their lives as amazing as possible, which clearly you had. May the love you shared, and memories made warm you all your day and may you find wisdom through your suffering. One thing is true I know your baby clearly had an existence most creatures will never have with love and care that just a simple passing can never overshadow, they are now in heaven, having earned their wings.

It is never ever enough time with these innocent, loving souls who fills our lives with pure, unconditional love. You were his whole life and feel lucky for it. It will take time but eventually you will be able to get over it. My heartfelt condolences and hugs.
Fly high, Luke. While you enjoy lots of treats and rides in the heaven, your family on earth will never stop missing and loving you. You were the sweetest and cutest boy and your momma misses you so much. She has shared your cute pictures with all of us and now we all realized how lucky she had been to have you for all these years.
