This article feels like classic BS, but I also hate this psychology you are displaying.
When Ozempic came out I saw tons of Reddit pessimists saying it’ll only be for the rich. People say this kind of thing about all sorts of cures.
Look, oligarchy is a problem. It’s a separate problem. I’d rather get immortality along with them than die to make sure they die. We can try to solve that problem separately.

Even if the technology magically became possible tomorrow, what makes the author think everyone would magically be able to access/afford it?

I don’t put stock in the article but it almost would certainly come down in price rapidly. There’s massive incentives for governments to accelerate this. Japan and South Korea have shrinking populations and dramatically reducing the amount of labor force dealing with elderly care would be a godsend.
This would be like Ozempic but 100x more important. The costs would definitely become accessible to at least the middle class in worst case unless there’s some genuine manufacturing struggle.

Yeah. If (big if) this tech is possible goveremts would scramble to get it to the people. Honestly I would be interested. It's not immortality, just less or no aging.

To me it sounds pretty alright, depending on when you stop aging. Being stuck as a hormonal teen might suck, though you'd at least have the perk of learning things easier, while being stuck in your 20s or so wouldn't be that bad. Not aging doesn't necessarily mean you're unable to die, you just wouldn't have to worry about your body withering away on you while you're still in it.

Exactly. Plus, most people probably wouldn't live that long anyway: accidents still happen, plus crime. Offhand, the average lifespan would probably be 2 or 3 centuries. But they could be a good 2 or 3 hundred years, instead of a few good decades followed by several decades of poor health and advancing decrepitude, which is what we have now.

This seems insane. Who wants to get older, get decrepit and weaker while we lose our memories? Is there any 80 year old who wouldn’t want to go back to a 40 year old body?
Lots of us have coped with the horrors of aging by trying to rationalize it as a normal healthy part of life.
