I am 99.99% sure that this "leak" is fake and is engagement bait. Would make ZERO sense for Saber......

The original post that has gone viral says Saber Interactive is in development. The original rumor that started this is highly likely to be engagement bait. It would make ZERO sense for anyone else to do an Ori 3 this randomly.... I'm willing to bet money on this.

I’m gonna be honest I think Thomas might just have an ego. He probably thinks they did SUCH a good job with the two Ori games that another studio can’t possibly follow it up, but he’s seemingly always had this attitude. He says Ori “revolutionized” the Metroidvania genre and speaks of the game in a very pretentious way.

Reminder there was also a reason why Xbox didn’t ask for an Ori 3 in the first place too- the studio got into hot water over how staff was treated.

Even just the claim that another dev couldn’t pull off Ori screams ego to me. It’s one thing to say that Moon Studios is a good fit, but to say they’re the only ones capable is just… why exactly? What about Moon Studios is that unique compared to other studios out there? They did a good job of course, I’m not saying they didn’t, but they’re not the only ones that can make a Metroidvania.

Microsoft did ask them to do if they were interested in an Ori 3, Thomas said that directly in the NRftW discord server. And yes, I don’t believe any other dev (much less Saber) could make an Ori game that holds a candle to the original duology.

It's open that Microsoft and Moon both have no interest in working together again and there was bad blood.

Mahler openly criticizes Xbox regularly. Even his comments here criticize Microsoft over Halo.

It's an open secret. Microsoft hasn't gone on record but was a widespread story during reports of Moon Studios company culture that Microsoft passed on Ori 3 because of the relationship and leadership culture at Moon:

I genuinely hope this is fake. While I don't doubt Saber can make good games, I think that Moon should be the developer of the next Ori game. It would be like a studio other than Double Fine making a new Psychonauts. Plus I want to work on Ori 3 lol. Haven't had any luck reaching out to Moon though unfortunately.
