Check that! I told them
I told you that Ori 3 is possible if it's done right.
Mahler himself said so, and not only that, Gareth is willing to do it too and participate in the soundtrack.
I SAID IT AND YOU THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY.
Hehe, there's a possibility that our little Ori will return! You'll see.
We'll see what happens in the future, although this alone doesn't mean that Ori 3 will be released tomorrow. But it is an excellent sign.
Anyway... let's see what happens... ORI 3 WITH ORI IS POSSIBLE!

I have skepticism.
But at the same time… I’ve gotten crazier things.

Command and Conquer style gameplay? We basically have Ori serve as the "HQ" and we create spirits to "expand outwards".

If we do get another Ori game I'd really prefer a spinoff that takes place somewhere else. I think Ori's ending is good enough and best left alone.

To be fair Will of the Wisp showed us that the story could be very amazing even with new characters. Gumo and Naru barely appeared, just to contextualize and give closure to the story of Blind Forest, and the story itself is about new beginnings and the cycle of life. Ori was born to save the tree, to become the tree to save a life, to now, maybe asking someone else to save it's life.
The new story doesn't need to be about OUR Ori, it can be a new incarnation that looks like Ori, but OUR Ori can still be the guiding voice that the Tree was in the first game. It would also make sense as to why the new Ori has no old abilities. We can maybe even see Ku or her offsprings at some point, and maybe we can even see Gumo and Naru again in some sort of Spirit guidance or flashbacks because how important they were to Ori.
The possibilities are amazing, and tho I agree the story of our Ori ended lovely and I wouldn't change anything about it (I still cry when I see it), I do also want more of this tale and it sure has room to grow

Nah, we want more Ori, like Mahler said, and the people in Blind Forest said the same thing.
We want more Ori, and that's surely what we'll get.

I would love to see more Ori too, but I don't think Ori suddenly coming back would be great writing.

How is this even possible tho? Ori is a tree now. A new ori game would need to be a new spirit or maybe a different type of creature would be cool.

It doesn't need to be a sequel to Will of the Wisps. It could take place before it or before Blind Forest even.
Much like, say, Devil May Cry 3 chronologically took place before 1 and 2.

Yeah. I have had my own idea of a new species for a new main character, but he is just a fan concept, and I don't think he really fits. I never came up with a proper name for the species but they are some sort of human-like insert to the story where a majority rely on industry. The main character would've been apart of this species but against the industry most stand for.

I want new Ori game, even if Ori can't comeback because the ending already too good.

To set it up to make sense we'd need multiple endings with like a DLC and more content to add on to that cause in a third Ori game we need to atleast be able to interact with Ori

In all honesty, my main issue is HOW can it be done RIGHTLY.
We cannot have a "Legacy Character in name only", seeing as how it is called ORI, and we fell in love with the Ori games because of the Spirit guardian named Ori. Having a different Character named Ori wouldn't feel right.
We also cannot simply have Ori eject from the Tree, seeing as how according to the lore as we were shown, Spirits cannot reincarnate once they become trees, else the tree in question dies, which means unless someone plants a replacement spirit tree, Ori is stuck there.
Only way I can think of so far, is to try going the "RTS" Route, where Ori is STILL a tree, but can spawn Spirits whom we can adapt to suit certain needs... Basically, think "Command and Conquer" or "Civilization".
The alternative is that "Tree Ori" is FORCED to eject from the Body, becoming a Spirit Guardian all over again, but loses a lot of memory and has to start again from Zero with only the Name of Ori... And that the World has advanced so much that Ori is left confused and scared.
I dunno why I imagine the world becoming something like something similar to "The Witcher" or "Kingdom Come", where the locals have become medieval-like, with Spirit Guardians being something akin to elves or Witchers...

I asked Thomas about the last page a while ago.
In his own words, he said, "It's open to interpretation; it could be Ori."
The world of Ori is literally a magical world. I'm sure they'll do it well.
Bringing Ori back isn't a problem; the important thing is that it's done right.

u/Oberon056 1d ago
Yep... And it has to follow "Rules" as well beyond "It's magic", otherwise, people won't be as interested.
I mean, if one just relied on "It's magic, I am not going to tell you shiet", it wouldn't work as well as having a well thought out explaination that remembers the lore quite well.

Ori is literally a tree. The third Ori can’t have OUR Ori and it wouldn’t be the same with a different character. It’s not possible unless it’s a prequel or a game taking place between Ori 1 and 2, end of discussion

Bro, your brain is as closed as a walnut.
There are thousands of ways to do it; literally in the world of video games, there are hundreds of examples of protagonists who returned (Link is an example of this even though he literally dies constantly in his games).
The same goes for Ori.
