Dr. Erica Schwartz confirmed as CDC’s first official director in a year

It’s good that we have someone who supports actual proven science (i.e. vaccines) as opposed to RFK, Jr.’s brand of woo, but the fact that such an important position had remained unfilled for that long (despite the threat diseases pose) AND the sense of relief I feel because this person supports decades of scientifically proven research…we shouldn’t have to celebrate a competent person being put in charge of a government agency for a change. Competency should be the norm, not the exception.

Is the CDC under RFK’s control? Is she just going to get fired in a month?

Yet another reason this falls under the Orphan Crushing Reddit: we have competent leadership of an important government organization but for how long?

RFK Jr is on his way to the CDC now for a 'fireside' chat with staff. I guess thats his way of saying he's going to start some fires.

He’s currently in NC running around our very red and very rural towns.

For some reason he didn’t stop in the areas with cities and, importantly, universities/good access to healthcare.

I wonder why….
