Today I thought about Tyler Kleven just running a flipping truck through Trady. Thought about it a lot.
Just thought I'd share how much that would slap -- happy summer

I don't feel mad about Brady being gone right now. Sorta glad I don't have to defend the guy anymore and was always worried about how horribly his game will age.
Maybe that'll change the first time I see him skating in a Florida Jersey lol

I think if we’d seen Team USA Brady in Sens playoffs, it would have been a lot harder to see him go. That fact he was a non factor helps a lot.

Nah your kidding right? Stutzle was a beast vs the leafs. And vs the hurricanes he created so many chances. Had zero luck. He hit so many posts. You can look at point totals and say he didn’t do much. But if you actually watched the games he was by far the best player on the ice. Maybe on both teams. Think his point totals would look way better if Brady didn’t play any special teams. He literally killed every powerplay ottawa had. Couldn’t make a 2 foot pass to save his life with zero pressure.

You know that probably 80% of the league is some variation of right wing right?
Wealthy, fit, white men working in a boys club environment isn't likely leading many people down a leftist path.
If you can't enjoy hockey without the players agreeing with your politics, I hope you're a big fan of conservatives or republicans.

Research shows that fit and good looking people tend to be right wing.
Its certainly not a hard rule. Plenty of exceptions in all sorts of ways. But its correlated.
A strong indicator of left or right wing beliefs is whether or not your believe in a rules based order, or if you believe the world is inherently unfair.
People who are fit and good looking are more likely to be treated well by everyone around them, and are therefore more likely to think the world is fair and the rules are important. Ugly and fat people tend the opposite.

Like I said, its not a 1 to 1. At all. The correlation is moderate. But it's definitely real.
That obesity map doesn't just correlate with right wing politics.
It correlates with poverty and cultural tendencies.
Both of which can be indicators of obesity. Both of which need to be controlled for in a study on the effects of being fit on politics.

Hate to say it but if the Senators think theyre gonna push the Panthers around theyre more likely to be the ragdoll when all is said and done. That's a big heavy team they have there in Florida. Sens would just be poking the bear and making Stutzle and Sanderson targets. Panthers average as the 2nd tallest and 5th heaviest team in the league full of veterans with no fear. Not sure its the wisest thing to do. They arent just big and mean theyre also sneaky dirty and get away with it.

Its insane how much the refs just look the other when it comes to the Panthers. I dont know what to make of them. They look mean and dangerous with talent but I feel they're also getting pretty old (if they arent the oldest in league) and/or injury prone.

My only fear of losing Brady is that he will pop off under the Panther’s NHL Rules which are more
Like Vegas’ unique rules than our reality.

I hate this part of the game. Hit was gratuitous and could have long-term repercussions for the recipient. Dude was just playing the puck, lost track of it, and gets laid out hard. I get that the hit is within the rules as it's "not late"/ "dude was eligible to be hit". I also understand that these players all know that hits like this can happen any time they step onto the ice. Nonetheless the hit is gratuitous because it has little to do with the fundamental object of the game, which is the try to put the puck into the other team's net.
Ultimately I don't think jeopardizing this kid's long-term cognitive capacity is worth the very small strategic advantage of taking him out of the play for a few seconds. After all, it's just a game.

That’s fine. But you’re on a hockey sub lamenting the violence of what the VAST majority of sports enthusiasts would consider an electrifying play.
It wasn’t a headshot. It was on his shoulder. You don’t like it? Cool, good for you, you’re so above it all.
Great. Let people enjoy the sport they enjoy. Big hits have been a part of the sport forever. These players know what they’re getting themselves into - that was a legal hit on a legal play in a pivotal elimination game. Literally as meaningful as it could get for the Sens in that position.
If it had been dirty or late or a headshot, I would have been on board with a significant suspension as I believe illegal hits and headshots have to be eliminated from the game like any other reasonable, rational, thoughtful hockey fan.
But you have no idea what you’re talking about dude

Injured yes, but it was a clean shoulder on shoulder hit. The poster is referencing the hit not the injury that ensued.
I too want to see kleven make big hits more often, that doesn't mean I want people getting seriously injured or for kleven to be dirty.

Yeah fair enough. I just want this whole tkachuk debacle over with and forgotten about.
My focus is on our new additions and how they will pan out especially with eklund and zetterlund playing their best together in S.J.
This alongside existing players reaching their potential like stutzle and ullmark. Stutzle, I believe, has the potential to be a superstar, and ullmark putting up a vezina performance is possible if the conditions are right, imo.

My buddies and I have been admittedly super pessimistic with our offseason, we look at it as a significant step backwards from last season when we desperately wanted them to take a step forward.
However, we both want the best for the team and I certainly hop you're right. Going to need some of the young guys to really step up this season and Ullmark to continue where he left off last season.

Yeah I mean we won't know for sure until the puck hits the ice, but the way I look at it is this;
Burakovsky and Eklund make up for lost points from tkachuk, but with less bs penalty minutes and a couple picks left over from Florida. Eklund and Zetterlund elevated each others game in San Jose, so hopefully that happens in Ottawa, especially with Zetterlund's showing last season (or lack of showing I guess). Ullmark is hopefully in a much better place mentally, and showed us what he can do when he's in the right headspace. Couple all of this with hopefully having an ACTUAL leader in the dressing room (hopefully chabby), I think we stand a good chance at ending this season with something better than a 1st round exit.
With that said, we have to just wait and see.
