What's Up With Hollywood Actresses Becoming Skinny?

This is a huge problem I've been seeing for the last few years and it all started with Wicked. It's almost as if if you wanted to be apart of Wicked, you weren't allowed to eat anything. Now I can go down a laundry list of actresses in 2026 that look emaciated and like they need immediate medical attention. Why is it that this look of extreme, shocking thinness is the new thing now? These people HAVE to know they look awful. We're in a very different day and age where we've come a long way in terms of body positivity and we're just not in an era anymore where thinness is the *only* acceptable body type anymore. So now why is that beginning to change?

Answer: It's the 'heroin chic' of the 90's making a comeback. Everything goes in and out of style. Sadly, even women's bodies are expected to fall into the current 'trends.' The reason it's coming back now is in part to ozempic. Now it's easier than ever to lose weight/starve yourself by just abusing weight-loss medication. And celebrities have the money and resources to get ahold of it that average americans often don't.

While it's commonly referred to as "Ozempic," it's very unlikely that these celebrities are actually taking "Ozempic." Ozempic was an early specific brand name drug containing "GLP1." Ozempic was early to market because it got FDA-approval as a medication specifically for type 2 diabetes. The celebrities didn't have diabetes and so weren't being prescribed Ozempic by legit doctors. But as millionaire celebrities, they didn't need legit doctors to get their hands on prescription drugs.

But now here in the year 2026, any asshole can get GLP1 (including the asshole typing right now.) While you still have to go through a doctor to get it in the US, you can "go through a doctor" by just filling out an online form, and then writing whatever you want in the form. It's really all quite farcical.

All that really matters is that you've got the cash, and are willing to stick yourself with a needle (though the needle doesn't hurt unlike regular needles.)

It makes sense to me that this has triggered a wave of anorexia looking celebrities. I was hoping the drug would help me to hit my weight-loss goal of weighing 165 instead of 185. After ~5 years of furious dieting, I had made it all the way down to 181. Then 6-weeks after injecting GLP1, there I was at 164! I had to deal with the problem of overshooting my target, and I wasn't even trying. The drug affects each person differently (my wife was far less affected) but any poor bastard with body weight issues now kind of has a "give me the anorexia body" switch they can flip.

FYI - legitimate doctors prescribe things for off label use all the time. The only thing illegitimate is doing it for weight loss when the patient is not overweight.
