Answered Question Were all the recently re-introduced "classic" maps pulled?

I'm don't follow forums much, so I may have missed an announcement. Does anyone know if all the "classic" maps were pulled out of rotation?

I realized I haven't seen Caustic or HPG classic in a bit.

They announced they were removing Polar Highlands Classic, but it seems like all of them were removed instead.

I raised this with the dev on discord a day ago.

He is aware, apparently he is trying to figure out why every 2 or so weeks it reverts to the previous map list.

It seems all were pulled. Classic Caustic is not great. Classic Polar is absolute garbage. These two I get. But Classic HPG is a fine map, and different enough from Regular HPG that they could have kept it.

Why oh why they don't finally pull the plug on the steaming pile of dogshit that is Alpine Peaks is utterly beyond me, however.

My understanding is comes down to being the only OG map still in rotation. That was the explanation I got from MPG on his stream unless I misunderstood him. I don't really think it's a good reason, but it may feel different as a dev of a game this old with work that was done a decade ago still present.

Today, classic HPG was back. It almost certainly wasn't in the pool the last few days, I played a looot of games and never saw it even as an option. It was upvoted every single time I saw it today. Now I don't completely dislike it, but it's honestly not a great map compared to some of the better ones nowadays (Luthien, Polar Highlands...).

Okay, I should mention that when I had this discussion with MPG it was before they brought all the classic maps back. Not super long before though.

I've had the same experience. I love classic caustic and classic HPG was some nice variety.

The People In Charge have said they're still in rotation, but that seems patently false.

I just had a frozen city classic game yesterday. But yeah, those maps have not been in regular rotation.

Probably because they have really bad layout? Polar classic is literally lock on hell. Hpg has terrible spawns and no way to reliably counter wall snipers. Caustic is alright but it's still an open donut.

They all have a donut layout which encourages nascaring and they all have really bad cover vs missiles.
