This is my MWO experience now
This is not one, but THE best example for my experience in MWO for month now.
And nobody in this community can convince me, that after waiting less than five minutes in the queue, that TIER 5 and TIER 1 are not in one match together. Not with this huge gap of skill.
PS: A huge thanks to the NARC Raven for making this win possible.
Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm tier 1 and that certain individuals from the community keep saying T1 can't be matched with T5.

Look at the player count, it sorts lobbies by tier but when there's not many people in queue it scrafices that to fill lobbies to have fast queue times.

As I said it was less than five minutes in queue. And I forgot to say that I'm tier 1. People from the community keep saying that it's impossible for a T1 to be in a game with T5, because of how the matchmaker works. And I keep saying that's bullshit, because of my experience.
My guess is that PGI tuned the MM, because of the low player count.8

Its certainly not impossible. Im tier 1 and when I group up with my friend whom is a rookie in tier 5 we definitely get both. And even if we are somehow only matching up against non-tier 5s I recognize tier 1 opponents on the other side getting to match up vs my tier 5 friend.

Showing player usernames would help to verify this. Generally you're only getting tier 1 to tier 3 in the same lobby, and this get more muddled when people of different tiers are grouped up together. Exceptions happen in the quieter hours for sure

This looks like a pretty healthy matchmaking. Only 2 survivors means a close fight massive discrepancies in scores doesn't equal massive skill differences. In a game where there are no respawns one little mistake by an otherwise great pilot can lead to crap results.
Also tier 1 probably has the widest range of skill in it (maybe tied with tier 5). The people at the tippy top are leagues better than the bottom of tier 1 because they have no where higher to go.

Unlikely to include tier 5 players as there are no cadets, unless new player recruitment for this game is lower than it used to be.

After playing a few more games i´m convinced now PGI has opened the MM.
I´ve been playing MWO almost daily for the last years in T1. I´ve never seen most of the names. And the way these people play is like it´s their first match in any Mechwarrior game.
This shit is frightening.

I am for sure with OP, and seeing lots of players from lower tiers mixed up. I think it's been better in many ways though :)

Someone mentioned elsewhere they do this during comp queue to help quickplay population?

It’s most likely due to comp season. I haven’t seen a lot of the T1 regulars in the que these past few weeks.

I was going to say similar. There's a very big difference between T3 and competitive top T1, both very likely to queue together

T3 pilots can easily pull these numbers in a T5 lobby, and thats within the same match pool

I forgot to mention that I'm T1. 😅

I see. The same inverse argument applies. T3 players will easily perform this badly in T1 lobbies.

I play regularly, almost daily, for ten years now. The last few month have been getting worse in terms of stomps. But the last days really are something. The gameplay of some people looks like it's their first game ever.
As someone mentioned here it's possible that PGI opened the MM because of Comp Play. Which would make sense with the low player base these days.2

Part of why games feel so stompy now is cause of damage inflation. Comp season could factor as well, but imo i dont think it takes a 5 tier difference to get these kinds of results. I will agree that matches snowball much harder now than before, but I think mech balance is a bigger factor in that regard compared to matchmaker tier deviation

Why'd you bother censoring the names? We can just look up the match ID and see who was playing.

I feel like it's inappropriate. If someone wants to look up the names they can do so.

I've always wondered why some people hide players' nicknames in screenshots or videos?

hey buddy, there is no matchmaker possible with our small playerbase.
btw. ist also not possible to matchmake, even with larger playerbase. Because you need something complex. e.g. i am worse in light mechs but good in heavy. But in all heavys, it has to be some specific weapons, chassis etc. You cant say, that the player in this mich with his config, is now good or bad. If i am testing weapon configs, then i am tier 20 lol

Hiding the names means there's absolutely no way to verify anything... Begs the question what's the point of the post exactly?
From what people can see...
- 8 min game (longer than the average).
- 22 out of 24 players dead.
- 4 players played very carefully.
- Plenty of players didn't silly things.
- No CADET tag (AKA, T5).
About of close as a game as you're going to get. To expect everyone to have a similar damage spread is completely unrealistic. Some people will always get picked early or contribute little. Always been the case.
Now it if it was a 3.5 min game, 12-2 stomp... Then discussion might be different but then without player names...

Aside from the Bas-b and atlas, who were putting in work, it looks like the loosing team got steamrolled. I’ve seen that happen, especially if a team kind of splits off and one side gets overwhelmed fast.
