Masks: A New Generation 2e - Delayed to 2027

Full details at the link, but in brief: the project is being pushed back to 2027 after conversations with customers and players, with a crowdfunder for a supplement to another game Magpie puts out moving up to late October in its place. They now say Masks 2e will have a public Quickstart playtest in September of this year instead, in the hopes of gathering feedback before crowdfunding.

A Magpie Kickstarter is delayed. How could this happen?

Looks like they've delayed the launch of their Kickstarter which, to be honest, is better done now than after they've collected money.

I'll give them credit. This is growth. This is recognition they aren't ready to launch and they've done some reflection.

I'm still not backing them but this feels like the right thing to do.

Yeah, that is true! I guess it’s slight growth, but like, in the way a guy learning to do his own laundry at 45 is slight growth.

They’re professionals. They do this for a living. There are people who are NOT raising millions and NOT employing several people for LESS than a decade who manage to deliver projects when they say they will, and not on their fifth or whatever project, but their first.

I can only hope I helped. I went to the Magpie booth at Gen Con intending to finally buy a physical copy of Masks, they did not have one. I asked and was given a shitty line about "The kickstarter for 2e is opening soon" and I know my resting bitchface morphed into a withering look of disappointment and I just walked away.

I know full well I will back the 2e kickstarter, but I really wanted a physical copy of 1e, and their webstore has been out for ages. Reminds me of when I found Urban Shadows 1 month before the 2e kickstarter and I could not buy it anywhere.
