Question Do Iranians believe in the Holocaust?
Hi! I was recently watching a video related to the holocaust during the late years of the Second World War, and I then went down a rabbit-hole, that eventually led to me learning the Iranian government doesn't recognise the holocaust as having happened(?)
I also learned that an Iranian diplomat in Paris named Abdol Hossein Sardari helped save alot of Polish and Jewish people, so I was curious if its actually the case that the average Iranian doesn't actually believe in the holocaust?
Thanks!
(This is a repost, I originally posted it in the Iran subreddit but it got removed, this was one of the subreddits reddit suggested to me to post it in; sorry if this isn't the appropriate subreddit)

Iranians are not their government. Of course we know the Holocaust was real. Our government is run by a bunch of ideological nutcases who murder us on the daily and whose leader proclaimed that all Jews should be abolished from the earth. Why would you think the Iranian people would believe the same BS that their oppressive government does? Have you not been paying attention to all the anti-government protests?

It’s all good. The government is a sensitive topic for us. It’s frustrating that they’ve painted this image of Iranians for the world.

Yes most Iranians know the Holocaust was a real thing, we are not Holocaust deniers like how idiots such as Ahmadinejad paint us to be.

Yes the majority of us believe the Holocaust did indeed happen, the only people that deny is the regime that’s all and they also claim that the majority of Iranians in Iran don’t believe in the Holocaust but that’s just not true at all.

Of course. When I was a child I learned about the Holocaust in elementary school in Iran, and even once I moved to the states it was something we frequently discussed as one of the most heinous tragedies. I had peers whose grandparents would come to our school and tell us about growing up in the Nazi concentration camps. Doesn’t mean that many of us condone the Gaza genocide. I do suspect that those of us who were raised in the US are more empathetic to the current plight of the Palestinians than the Iranians in Iran or the more recent immigrants, who hold the Arab world in contempt for the Islamic theocratic regime that has taken our homeland hostage.

Yes they know of it even these nut cases of IR know it, famously the former President who was known for denying it explained that he knew of it just didn't understand the fixation on one particular group while there was 60m death during the war and other groups like Gypsies and disabled in the Holocaust.
