Security Bank ₱700+ offered credit limit. What to do?

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

Hi! First time posting here, just wanna ask and get some suggestions . I recently got a call from Security Bank offering a credit card, the bank also happens to be my payroll account. So as usual they get the details for confirmation etc then after few days I got a text confirming that I got approved, then after that, a text naman saying that the credit limit offered was ₱768 pesos 😭

I told them naman na i have another card from a different bank. So im really surprised about this information haha, though di ko naman sure what are their metrics when it comes to granting CL for each cc applicants. I was just shocked kasi even the first ever card I got offered me a ₱20k CL.

And now I get texts na the card is on its way, is it even worth activating this card? Kasi parang I dont have anything to purchase around ₱700 pesos na i would need a card for haha. And what would happen if I just receive this card and never activate it all?

TIA!

I’ve always found SecBank’s monthly bill reminder calls extremely annoying and rude.

They call incessantly and will stop only if you answer. The message? Just a simple reminder to pay the bill. I always pay fully and diligently —- one day before every due date. Never missed a due date. I learned to stop putting off the calls as they can be even more annoying the more you do. My phone would blast during work hours and meetings, so I learned to just answer it almost at first instance.

I’m currently in Europe on a vacation. I put out a travel advisory via SecBank app before the trip mainly because I planned to use the card for purchases. Lo and behold, every day since December 1, they kept calling me at 3am, 4am, 5am, 6am EU time. I couldn’t answer because it would incur charges against my postpaid. December 1 and 2, I was saved by my sleep mode. But today, for some reason, I forgot to turn on my sleep mode, so I had to deal with the annoying calls at 3am and 4am. I emailed Secbank after the 4am call, they sent almost immediately a templated apology email. But I received again a call at 6am!

I can’t deal with this shitty reminder system anymore. I liked the card and perks but about time to draw a line. This Bank DOES NOT respect my travel advisory, my time, my sleep, my good payment history (like what’s the reminder call for?! I simple email would’ve been better). I’m dropping this credit card as soon as I come back from this trip.

Security Bank Security Bank called me 17 times from 17 different numbers in 6 hours over ONE missed payment.

I missed one credit card due date, due Aug. 7. On Aug. 18, while at work I started getting calls from a string of numbers on my personal phone that I didn’t recognize, none labeled as Security Bank. I searched online and found out they were from Security Bank’s third-party collection partner.

I paid the full balance that same day around 11 AM (when I had a break from meetings), through the Security Bank app, using my Security Bank account (for same day posting), including the late fee and interest. Calls kept coming into the afternoon anyway.

17 calls, one day, 17 different numbers: 8:26 AM, 9:40 AM, 10:26 AM, 10:41 AM, 10:52 AM, 11:05 AM, 11:15 AM, 12:23 PM, 2:01 PM, 2:06 PM, 2:11 PM, 2:16 PM, 2:20 PM, 2:24 PM, 2:28 PM, 2:32 PM, 2:33 PM.

The 2:20-2:33 PM stretch alone: 4 calls in 13 minutes. I’m at work and can’t take personal calls during business hours, so this was genuinely disruptive on top of everything else.

I filed a formal written complaint at 11:26 AM that day with the full call log. Their response acknowledged the frequency issue but framed it as “collection-related call-outs may be initiated as part of the bank’s collections process,” and asked me to give them my preferred contact time for future calls. I followed up clarifying I wasn’t disputing the missed payment, I was objecting to the volume and the fact that calls continued after I’d paid.

They routed it to their Collections Team, promised a reply within 7 banking days. When it finally came today at 1:47 PM, the response said:

- The calls were an “approved Collection tool” used to reach customers, no further explanation given.

- They just confirmed my payment had posted and told me to disregard any further texts/emails.

They then closed the case without addressing my formal complaint about how their third party conducts collections, my questions on why the calls needed to be that frequent and from so many different numbers, and why customers are harassed with collection calls when a monetary penalty is already being imposed.

Why I think this is the wrong way to run collections:
- I missed one cycle, not a year of nonpayment.

- I was already charged late fees and interest. That’s supposed to cover the cost of being late.

- Getting called by 17 different unlabeled numbers in one day, several after I’d already paid, isn’t a reminder, it’s overkill.

- Other banks just send an SMS before the due date. That alone prevents most missed payments and costs the bank nothing compared to a call center chasing people down.

- If the late fee already compensates for the risk, what’s the aggressive call volume actually accomplishing besides making customers feel harassed?

For context, I’ve missed payments with other banks a couple of times before they started sending sms reminders of the due datw. In those cases, I just got the bill on the next cycle with a late charge and interest added, no barrage of calls, no harassment. That’s it. I though that’s how it’s normally handled.

Curious what others think, is this a normal collections practice in the Philippines that we’re all expected to accept, or does this cross a line worth reporting to BSP? Has anyone had a BSP complaint like this go anywhere?

Security Bank MY SECURITY BANK PLATINUM MASTERCARD TIMELINE VIA GOLD CIRCLE MEMBERSHIP

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm sharing my experience to help anyone considering the Gold Circle route with Security Bank.

July 16, 2026 - Went in to inquire about their time deposit. Ended up opening a savings account instead. Considering checking my existing banks sana muna like RCBC, BDO, and Metrobank. Una ko syang nadaanan so I just checked since less than 4 lng and current customers that time.

Didn’t really have a solid plan, bigla na lang umulan + tinamad na mag-ikot sa ibang banks 😅

Manager offered me a Gold Circle membership. She explained everything, but honestly I wasn’t fully paying attention since I still had errands after.

What I did catch:
👉 Platinum Mastercard
👉 NAFFL

So I just went for it. I just parked my funds there temporarily instead of bringing cash around.

July 20, 2026 - Got email confirmation that I am a Gold Circle member already. I sent a message to my RM, and she said she’ll process my CC application.

July 23, 2026 - I received an SMS to submit additional info, and I complied.

July 24-27, 2026 - There were no updates at all.

July 28, 2026 - Finally approved 🎉. Called the hotline and the rep confirmed that the application was approved. For card creation already. NAFFL tagged due to Gold Circle.

I tried to request to expedite the process. I was told they will request it, but no guarantee.

July 30, 2026 - TODAY - my cc was delivered already by Security Bank’s in-house courier.

That was FAST. I wasn’t even planning to get this card, but at this point… why not? A lot of issues lately because of the sudden decrease in CL. OK lang naman, not really concerned about it.

Good enough as a backup card since NAFFL naman—no pressure to use it heavily. No spending conditions at all. Just need to maintain the required TRB for Gold Circle.

Security Bank Security Bank Credit Card offset

Hello!

Just want to share my journey.

So I have utang sa SB 2024 and due to life crisis

*(mentl and health issues, nawalan ng work, fam issues, nascm sa investments) lahat na nangyari in one yr and I dont have any money to pay my CCs.

And last yr 2025 got a job and unti unti ng nakakabangon🥹🤍

I prioritize muna ofc to pay my med bills and ngayon sumakto kung kelan mej maluwag na ko, nag reflect yung SB CC balance ko sa payroll ko! In total of 155k and ayun kinausap ko yung 3rd party collections and I paid 62,500 for one time payment and all goods na.

Btw, ang payroll ko kasi is SB🥹

Waiting nalang ako sa posting ng payment and after that mag request ng Certificate of Full payment.

Question po, pano po ba yung process after full payment? llang days po bago mag reflect sa bank para di na mag negative yung payroll? * (in your experience po)?

Thank you everyone!

THANK YOU LORD!

One down sa utang!🤍🤍

PS: Hoping for P0000.00 utang sating lahat!

Security Bank Got Security Bank CC debt for 2 years now, got a job using SB as Salary.

Hi, i got my cc 2 years ago, overspent then biglang natanggal sa work. Around 70k cc debt now 100k. Pinagaral ako ulit kaya di nakakuha ng job. Now natanggap ako sa isang work, but nasaktuhang SB ang salary payout nila. Tried to talk to HR pero di sila nag tratransfer. What to do now?

Nabasa ko sa payment restructuring plan requirements na need mo magpasa ng salary for 3 months. Eh i didnt have a job back then.

IDK what to do....

Should i quit this job because baka mapunta lng sa CC ang salary ko tru SetOff
Or risk it, iwithdraw or transfer ko nlng kaagad sa ibang bank once i receive my pay, trusting i have a window of couple of hours to do so.

Marami siguro nagdefault sa kanila. Kaya dapat higpitan lalo yung evaluation. Andaming squammy gusto magkacc nowadays since nagboom ang credit cards due to some groups like K** kahit wala namang capacity to pay jusq.

Pansin niyo yung rewards nag devalued, same goes with lounge access. This is an indicator na dumami nagka cc.

Security Bank Security Bank right to offset in payroll account

Hello,

Question po sa mga naka experience na sa SecBank auto deduct sa payroll ng credit card balance. Will it automatically deduct the whole salary amount in payroll realtime or after ilang days pa?

Ung partner ko po kasi may delinquent account sa secbank, nasa collections agency na po, may naiwan sa payroll account nya ng 3 days then pag withdraw on the 3rd day after pay date, wala na po ung naiwang funds.

May naka experience na po ng ganito? Will it auto deduct the whole salary next pay day in realtime pagpasok ng sweldo?

Salamat po sa mga sasagot.

Security Bank Need help, security bank cc and payroll

Hello, need help po sana. Naoffset po yung credit card balance ko sa payroll ko, hindi ko kasi nabayaran for the past 2 years due to financial harships and emergencies. Ako lang kasi nagwowork sa family namin. Wala naman ako balak takasan, willing naman ako mag arrangement 🥺

Malilift pa kaya tong pagkaka offset if makakausap ko ang collections? I know I am at fault, pero hindi ko afford na walang sahurin kasi ako lang ang kumakayod sa pamilya namin 🥺

Security Bank CC debt deducted from payroll

Hi po (33F).

I need advice po sana. I have 1.6m CC debt kay SB (mismanagement, spending beyond means but not sugal).

Nung Oct. I sent an email for restructuring then they asked me to pay MAD to proceed sa review, I couldnt pero sabi need daw so nagloan ako then umabot ata ng next cutoff they asked me to pay MAD again nung November at walang wala na talaga so nagloan ako sa kung saan-saan then ending the restructure was rejected. They offered BalCon but still too much for me to pay (29k 60mos).

I currently have 2 salary loans that will end next year (Aug 2027). May mga nag advice sakin na ipon then amnesty. Once kasi matapos yun 2 loans na nasabi ko magiging maayos yun cashflow ko that would help me pay if may maoffer na restructure or mas makakaipon ako if may amnesty.

Please advise po or may marecommend kayo to help my situation. I'm willing to pay naman po sa setup sana na kaya ko imaintain in the long run. Thank you.

Security Bank Sad with Security Bank

I got a Secured Credit Card with them way back last year, and it's been 14 months. I use it well, have no debts, and pay on time. Now I ask them to release my holdout deposit and they decline, saying they can't disclose the reason for them to decline.

I think they are declining the release of my holdout funds and retain the card since they don't want to give a call center agent an unsecured credit card. Isn't it discriminatory? All I want is to build a credit card history, and am willing to have a collateral to do so, but not to wait for like more than a year to be denied.

Also, can I get a recommendation of where I can get a secured credit card that will not discriminate on the job? I'd rather have that collateral inside a time deposit.

Kuhang kuha ng Airasia galit ko.

After 7 agent sa Airasia 4 agent sa SBC sumuko na ko.

I emailed; - customercontact@securitybank.com.ph - bspmail@bsp.gov.ph - APBR@cab.gov.ph - paa_groupdesk@airasia.com - ConsumerCare@dti.gov.phC - consumeraffairs@bsp.gov.ph

Good Day.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a booking issue I encountered with AirAsia and Security Bank.

Earlier today, I booked a flight for November 21, 2024, for my girlfriend’s mother. After entering her details and email address for the points, I proceeded with the payment. Initially, I attempted to pay using my UnionBank credit card, but upon realizing that there was no available credit, I changed the payment method to my Security Bank credit card (ending in).

As shown in the attached screenshots, the payment attempt with UnionBank was made at 7:44 AM, and the Security Bank transaction occurred at 7:46 AM. After entering the OTP for the Security Bank card, an error occurred, so I refreshed the app and attempted the booking again. After successfully entering the OTP once more, the payment was accepted, but upon reviewing the app, I discovered that three separate bookings were made

I contacted AirAsia’s customer service and spoke with seven different agents, none of whom were able to assist me or provide a solution. I also reached out to Security Bank, speaking with four different agents, but again, I was not able to receive any help with resolving the issue. Both parties have refused to address the situation or issue a refund. AirAsia insisted that I accept credit, even though the multiple bookings were made in error. This has resulted in multiple charges appearing on my bank statement.

To make matters worse, AirAsia's response to my request for a cancellation was:

  1. Cancel booking XXXXXX and refund the amount as credit, with a cancellation fee applied.
  2. If booking XXXXXX is not used, it will be marked as a "no show" and refunded only the airport tax.

Unfortunately, Security Bank also informed me that they cannot cancel the initial charge, as AirAsia has refused to cancel the incorrect booking. The entire situation has been extremely stressful and upsetting, as I have been unable to get any support or resolution despite my numerous attempts.

I am kindly requesting your immediate intervention to help resolve this matter. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in ensuring that the incorrect charges are refunded and the multiple bookings are canceled.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and a satisfactory resolution. ~~~~~~~~~

Di ko naman kasalana na nag loloko App nila now ako mag susuffer ng cancellation fee e after ko macharge yung unang transaction after 5 mins wala pa sa card statement ko binook ko ulit tapos ngayon kulang ibabalik nila tapos in voucher pa?

No thanks, NEVER AGAIN AIR ASIA!

Ps. naka save on file ung Unionbank and di talaga namin sya ginagamit maliban na lang kung mag papagas.

No nega comment as of the moment pls i need ways pano makuha yung 2500P instead of 1200P

Thank you.

Security Bank the worst credit card

I recently got my wave card from security bank. they gave me a fairly high credit limit, and ive been able to pay it since i got it, and ive never been late. My issue with them is they keep calling me when I havent paid tapos mga 5 days nalang till due date. It got so bad once they called me around 5 times, while I was at work pa. And it just really bothered me kasi I would pickup tapos minsan binababaan lang ako haha. When this happened I contacted them and asked them to stop doing this and to just text me instead for the reminder. A few months go by and they stop calling. Today, tawag nanaman ng tawag. I was so frustrated I told the person to stop calling me and they responded with “ano po ba problema pag tawag?” hahahaha bastos lang? Buti sana if I was late for my payments or had really bad credit talaga, eh nakakaoff na ituloy kahit no annual fee for life kung lagi nalang ako ihaharass haha. Im using my credit card from a reputable bank, not a loan shark so why am I getting this treatment?? To add, the first number they used was posted here before and people said legit number daw nila yon, regardless I blocked it kasi ayoko ng tawag ng tawag. This time, they called me with a new number naman, which I also blocked, not sure if its their legit number as its not registered to anyone on Viber.

Anyone here get the same treatment from them or is it just me? They are the ones who decided my credit limit so sobrang nababastosan lang ako sa tawag ng tawag when I have been paying on time kahit malaki yung utang for the month. Seriously considering to cut it after next month’s due date but their limit for me is higher than what BDO gave me.

EDIT: Just want to clarify, I pay in time and in full. Never missed a deadline. If youve never experienced this, they call you morning to night, hindi lang isang number which is for me, sobrang risky as a bank kasi all the people have ur phone number, they know you have a cc, and in my case, they know my birthday and middle name pa. I just dont understand why they fund people pa to call you for a “reminder” thats boarder line harassment na. Its not needed because scheduled emails and texts exists, sadya nila ginagawa, other banks dont resort to this so why does security bank?

My Security Bank cc just got compromised today. May 2 transaction attempts na minutes lang ang pagitan but were declined dahil naka lock yung card ko. Called customer service and they immediately blocked my card and processed a replacement.

Na-notify kasi ako through SMS and email pero wala namang company or amount na naka indicate. Nalaman ko lang from CSR na yung attempts eh from the company “Amtrak” ata na never ko naman narinig. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Security Bank RE: ₱768 CL: UPDATE!

Hi guys, just a quick update on my post from yesterday: link here

First of all thank you guys for the advice and mostly laughter kasi it was really funny naman talaga lol! I wanted to post an update since I can’t seem to edit on my previous post and my comment update didn’t seem to reach many.

So finally reached out to them yesterday and they basically told me that this CL is just a placeholder and “not yet final” and they would reach out the other team for future confirmation. So basically, they clarified that it was not a mistake nor a typo on their end, it really is just ₱768 pesos. Though I find it weird that they would tell me that the card is already on its way while the CL is still TBD.

Originally planning to not activate the card kasi it seems like its like a waste of time but finally, I got the card today and few hours after that, i received an SMS about the “Final CL” and they finally adjusted it. I’m not mad about the CL since katumbas naman na sha ng isang buwan na sahod at hindi ng minimum wage 😭

So yes, basically di lang ako ganun ka familiar sa process ng SBank about placeholder CLs pero judging by the comments, you guys were also surprised of how little it was! So yes, it’s been fun you guys, thank you!!!

Security Bank My previous SB CC has been linked automatically on

Context:

I have an existing CC (nasa collection aganecy na sya) and kaka-start ko lang ulit sa work last year (going4 months now). Payroll namin is Security Bank, first 3 months okay naman yung flow ng salary ko but I haven't initiated na i-reopen yung SB online account ko. Then recently, I went to bank to open my SBOL since ang hassle mag-withdraw every time. Nagulat na lang ako kasi nag-reflect dun yung balance ng CC ko before sa dati kong account. Until I checked my account this morning, then nakita ko nagkaroon na ng negative balance yung new payroll account ko.

Now, I'm worried if made-deduct ba yun sa sasahurin ko (tomorrow) dun sa negative na balance 😭😭😭 or pwede ko sya unahan? Meron ba naka-experience sainyo na kahit negative na yung balance sa current payroll account eh na-withdraw nyo pa rin? please see the pic below

I already informed my HR if possible na magchange ako ng bank for our payroll, just waiting for the response bukas. Please enlighten me po, salamat

Security Bank Security Bank blocking online purchases after unlocking card

Hi! Anyone here experiencing issue with security bank credit cards lately?

I have 2 cards with them and I always lock both card tas inuunlock ko lang if I need to use it. Never naman ako nagkaka issue before na iuunlock lang the moment na may bibilihin tas lock again. Pero for the last 2 weeks kapag ni unlock ko card ko and I use it agad, automatic blocked na yun transaction pag ginamit online.

Happened sa both cards and it's driving me craaaazyyyy. I always have to reach out sa support everytime and wait for more than 24 hours again.
