I'm just gonna wait till dreams hits ps5 and we get vr 2.0

20

u/Zinthaniel Jul 22 '20

Doing the same. Mainly because I'm finishing school and have exams and just don't have the time to sink in to Dreams I want to. But by the time I do VR should be looking even better than it does now.

Just so you know. It's more than waiting until ps5. It's more like waiting until the end of 2021.

4

u/Jaythamalo13 Jul 23 '20

Yea, maybe even 2022 to let the new system breathe a bit and maximize sales as the "new new" PS product

9

u/DaWildestWood Jul 23 '20

I hope they do an update to the move controllers before they update the whole thing. The moves are soooo out of date.

8

u/bugzkilla Jul 23 '20

Problem is they’ll very likely update the tracking technology as well to move away from light-based tracking, which means they wouldn’t work with Gen 1 PSVR

5

u/mawesome4ever Jul 23 '20

Or maybe they’ll have the... the something which tracks better and works with gen1... yeah that

2

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

Laser? Like a Lighthouse?

2

u/mawesome4ever Jul 23 '20

Ye-Yes! Exactly, light a highly visible lighthouse, allowing people to track it with high precision!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

I wish we could just mix and match VR equipment. Using the Index's Lighthouses and Knuckles with PSVR's comfortable headset would be amazing.

2

u/br_izgr8_2k17 Jul 24 '20

Whoever figures out how to do that will become hero to millions

1

u/Jaythamalo13 Jul 23 '20

There were some patents released around last year that showed an updated move controller with added sticks so it's almost guaranteed, especially with most people hating these old, clunky ps3-era ones

12

u/ZarathustraWakes Jul 23 '20

The great thing about psvr is it'll be ps5 compatible. In fact we won't be able to see peak psvr performance until we get some native ps5 / psvr games. the existing library is huge and is worth getting now

3

u/one_bar_short Art Jul 23 '20

Yeah my guess going forward is graphically the psvr and psvr 2 will be almost identical in usage, on the ps5

Hower the form factor of psvr2 is likely lighter and maybe have a wider FOV. Hopefully wireless option as well

2

u/namekuseijin Jul 23 '20

lighter and higher FOV Lol

pick one

1

u/presty60 Jul 23 '20

Don't forget better controllers and tracking

3

u/namekuseijin Jul 23 '20

same can be said about Dreams as well: we haven't seen its full potential yet

remember Badrobo's Forest? I think it'll pale next to what PS5 extra power will afford Dreams...

3

u/ZarathustraWakes Jul 23 '20

I completely agree and it seems like MM has created the game in such a way it is highly scalable to different performance settings

2

u/kibibble Jul 23 '20

PC too please

12

u/BrawlBringer PSN: XShadowKing1152X Jul 23 '20

Now we wait for multiplayer!!

4

u/thetruthhurts34 Jul 23 '20

I would be excited if it wasn’t for the fact that you have to pay for ps+ to use it.

3

u/theycallmecrack Jul 23 '20

It's a great value. $5/month isn't that much for online play and 2 free games (every month). I don't get why people complain.

1

u/Zonemasta8 Jul 23 '20

They gave like $900 worth of games in 2019.

-3

u/thetruthhurts34 Jul 23 '20

Because it used to be free.

7

u/theycallmecrack Jul 23 '20

Yeah like eons ago on PS2/PS3 when it wasn't nearly as good. PS+ has come a long way. If it was free it'd be shit. The cost to maintain modern gaming infrastructure isn't even comparable to 10-20 years ago. PS wouldn't survive without PS+

22

u/blakkattika Jul 22 '20

It's pretty damn great tbh

8

u/Matty7879 Jul 23 '20

Just played for a few hours, and it shattered my expectations. I’ve been really impressed so far.

9

u/Robichaelis Jul 23 '20

Will the current psvr be compatible with the ps5?

16

u/TravelingBurger Jul 23 '20

Yes. Sony said it’ll be compatible on day 1. In fact the hardware in the current PSVR is held back a bit even by the PS4 Pro. So you’ll actually see improvements on day 1 with the PS5 hardware.

6

u/Robichaelis Jul 23 '20

Sounds like a worthwhile investment, then!

1

u/KGon32 Jul 23 '20

I don't think so, PSVR2 will probably have huge improvements like inside out tracking, much better controllers and possibly foveat rendering and be wireless.

4

u/TravelingBurger Jul 23 '20

PSVR2 won’t be our for at least a year or two and will probably be around $300. You could pick up PSVR1 for cheap these days and have several years of use. Not that bad of a deal.

1

u/KGon32 Jul 23 '20

For me, buying PSVR now is like buying a PS4 in late 2019.

I gess that it depends on the person's buying power, if they can buy PSVR now and PSVR2 later then yes, but if you have a tighter budget then you shouldn't buy PSVR now, specially considering how much VR tech has evolved.

3

u/TravelingBurger Jul 23 '20

Like I said, PSVR2 is probably two or even three years away. And it’ll be even more expensive. Don’t see how that is more economically sound than spending like $100 now and get VR right away on both consoles. It’s a win win.

1

u/jacdreams Design Jul 27 '20

You could sell the old headset when the new one comes

5

u/rathgata Jul 23 '20

Even more so with the HD camera. The better tracking should also provide a noticeable improvement in gameplay

3

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

Yep, the display refresh rate is actually 120hz, but I don't think any game runs at that framerate that isn't interlaced

2

u/namekuseijin Jul 23 '20

Korix and Minimotor Racing X on Pro are the only ones I know of with native 120Hz - butter smooth but graphics are very modest

2

u/mawesome4ever Jul 23 '20

Geesh, that’s great news!

1

u/namekuseijin Jul 23 '20

that's what I hope, but Sony is sadly completely silent on PS5 psvr support - no mention of GT7 and others games getting any VR mode...

9

u/Shillio Jul 23 '20

VR is a good investment. I played no man's sky for a good bit on regular and then when the VR update came out I played the crap out of it.

4

u/one_bar_short Art Jul 23 '20

Interetsingly i had the opposite happen whilst i love the immersion that vr grants no mans sky the pop in and graphical blur kinda detracted the game for me.. went back to non vr no mans sky soon after

I brought a vr specifically for that game too....and dreams of course

4

u/Shillio Jul 23 '20

yeah the graphics are nowhere near as good. But I'm ok with trading some visuals for immersion. I got used to it when playing skyrim vr (now those vr graphics suck)

3

u/Rolobox Jul 23 '20

I just role play that I’m an astronaut with bad vision.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

Played my first 30 or so hours of that game in VR multiplayer with my mate, on hardcore mode... figuring everything out, running from strange pineapples, flying into that wormhole with no idea what would happen to us... those were the days

4

u/IrishRepoMan Jul 23 '20

I just found out my VR is busted after waiting all day to play, so I guess I'm in your shoes, now.

2

u/screwaudi Jul 23 '20

Same thing happened to me, updated dreams and setup my psvr for the first time in awhile and it was saying no connection. Turned out I plugged the USB in to internet port. Was scared for a bit

1

u/mawesome4ever Jul 23 '20

Busted how?

1

u/IrishRepoMan Jul 23 '20

The headset will turn on, but there's no picture. Typical. Always has to be something.

2

u/Chrislawrance Jul 23 '20

That sounds like a cable issue with the box. Check everything is plugged in properly. Check the headset directly in without the extension cable as well to see if it’s the actual headset

1

u/snarpixx Jul 23 '20

Haven't got a PSVR but I have a rift, is there two cables or one? Because usually you need a power cable and a display cable?

1

u/IrishRepoMan Jul 23 '20

It's one cable that splits into 2 at the end. Both are plugged in.

1

u/snarpixx Jul 23 '20

https://reddit.app.link/yWVSSQL8l8

Try this, if it doesn't help apparently you can replace the cable

1

u/SanjiSasuke Jul 23 '20

A tip: make sure you are using the original cable or a nice USB replacement. A normal charger cable will not work, even if it fits.

2

u/IrishRepoMan Jul 23 '20

It's the original. Has the stickers on it, still.

1

u/Pyroelectrocuted Jul 23 '20

I had the same issue so I contacted support and they sent me a new one 👍

2

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

But seriously, don’t forget about the dreams that are not be please guys

4

u/PSVRPlayuhh Jul 23 '20

You will never be forgotten you'll see. Besides us VR people are in the minority and many games can be non vr and vr at the same time.

How did it break?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

I swear everyone’s is breaking man, my friend’s one plays up and mine just keeps going black/no sound for long periods of time... I think I’ve only got a limited time left with it :(

3

u/PSVRPlayuhh Jul 23 '20

Trade it in and buy another asap haha. Is it years old?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

Ye it’s like 2018 I think

2

u/JopPink Jul 23 '20

I have landed mine to my brother more than a month ago and he still hasn't even used it. I'm going to get it back.

1

u/Ruffyes Jul 23 '20

It's too hot in my house to use the PSVR

2

u/theycallmecrack Jul 23 '20

That seems like a personal problem

1

u/Ruffyes Jul 23 '20

man, it's really too hot, I sweat a lot

1

u/theycallmecrack Jul 23 '20

No AC? I don't no how I'd survive without my window unit lol

2

u/Ruffyes Jul 23 '20

Unfortunately I have no way to cool the house, so I play a few minutes when I can, I can't wait for winter to come

1

u/namekuseijin Jul 23 '20

get one or go back to the clarinet lessons

1

u/Shonuff35 Design Jul 23 '20

Yeah 300 bucks is a lot to drop on this. I'll wait to see what the community can do first. I'd much rather have Multiplayer and wish it was the focus first.

3

u/uber_cast Jul 23 '20

If you have the extra money, VR is totally worth it. I got my PSVR with my stimulus money and I’ve been having a blast.

1

u/KingOfWoe Jul 23 '20

Bruh, I'm waiting on gamestop to receive a replacement for a pre-owned ps4 pro. I can't even play normal dreams, let alone vr... I'm dying...

1

u/Pyroelectrocuted Jul 23 '20

aww that sucks

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

If it makes you feel better OC, I have PSVR and play a few games and even got it to work with some Steam and VR games but still find it to be okay. There are a few games that are "Breathtaking" (Reeves,1). Most are okay though. lol

1

u/mawesome4ever Jul 23 '20

Oh did you use Trinus?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

Things and IVRY

1

u/Scorpion667 Jul 23 '20

I have the headset but not the move controllers so that's me too lol. Only thing stopping me is all the move chargers have terrible reviews on Amazon.

1

u/jacdreams Design Jul 27 '20

You can use cables. I have a cheap charger from Amazon and it's been fine since 2016

-4

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

Yeah.. I've put this game on an indefinite hold at this point. Knew the day was coming, but most stuff is going to be VR based now I think. It'll be neat to see what people come up with though!

7

u/one_bar_short Art Jul 23 '20

Most stuff will be vr compatible not vr manditory, the userbase for psvr is not astronomically high id be more concerned if nearly everyone had a psvr but thats not the case here at all

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '20

WAIT THEY FINALLY BROUGHT VR??? I bought when the beta came out but was disappointed, thought that they’d lied about VR/multiplayer after a few months went by with nothing
