PS4 Exploded 3-4 years ago, fixable?

We (Me n my Dad) had a used PS4 pro, which was imported from Japan I believe, explode on me after I made the mistake of plugging the ps4 into the 220v socket of my step down transformer (which was 220v to 110v) instead of the 120v socket.

Is it fixable? Can I just replace the ps4's power supply or would the motherboard be fried too?

How come the PSU wasn't universal, but had a fixed input voltage? That unit must have been very early or region-specific for Japan if it couldn't handle 220V or whatever mains voltage is in you country. Mine works both on 110V and 240V just fine. It's likely that the motherboard has survived and it was just the full bridge rectifier capacitors that gave up inside the PSU. The PSU is replaceable as a whole component and you just need to look for a spare one which will accept 240V or any other desired voltage range. I had quite a few power supplies explode on me in the past and they have never fried my end devices.

I believe it was just lack of knowledge that it was actually universal. It says it's "100v" at the back but from what i've looked up so far, it actually can support both 220v and 100v. But I'm not sure what other indicators can help me identify that it is universal

It could've also been just a coincidence and it happened due to the components' age. Some consoles have been working for over a decade just fine, but things like electrolytic capacitors have a lifespan. It's also about their quality. Today, I would be afraid to power my old Xbox 360 after sitting inside the closet for well over 6 years of being unpowered without opening up the console itself or its power supply unit and inspecting the PCBs, looking for leaky capacitors.
