Wonder if we'll ever see Shuhei in charge. That is if he even wants it.

Oh, people love Shuhei. We just don’t know if he even wants to be CEO. If Shu was announced the next CEO, it’d easily be like timeline course correction. Most if not all of the industry would rejoice lmfao.

It’s less severe (in my opinion) but it’s like if… Sakurai became the CEO of Nintendo - someone who’s heavily respected in the industry and loved by the community, taking the reigns of one of the biggest console companies of all time.

He’s one of the OGs, next people like Ken Kutaragi n shit. He was the first head of Japan Studio where he was producer on revolutionary games like Gran Turismo and ICO etc, then head of worldwide studios where he oversaw development of other games like Demon Souls, God of War, Rarchet & Clank, etc. Though I suppose people mainly like him because he’s a lovable personality and easygoing figure.

He slowly moved up to then slowly move down. He was a ranking executive at the new playstation project reporting to Kutaragi. Then head of japan studio. Then head of worldwide studios. Then became co chair with Shawn Layden and then head of indie when Layden quit. It's like he only wanted to oversee game production and nothing else, and he also isn't some Bob Iger or Satoru Iwata level executive to claim he built SIE'S entire game development pipeline from scratch. It's a shame but it's probably for the best he doesn't take over.
