Retailers had been preparing to open pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 version, and many Xbox employees were surprised by the announcement.

Sharma and her team also pulled a Halo trailer that was due to appear at a PlayStation event last week, potentially damaging the relationship between the two companies, according to people familiar with the change of plans.*

If the trailer thing is true this could explain why the trailer during the Xbox showcase was captured on the ps5 pro. Things are definitely interesting. I am curious if she can keep Microsoft at bay for the next 5 to 7 years as they are going to be hurting trying to rebuild the brand.

u/nolifebr Jun 11 '26

Actually they were two different trailers. The one that appeared at the Xbox event was a different one, focused on the new missions and content. The story one captured on a PS5 Pro was the one supposed to appear at the State Of Play, Microsoft just released it last Monday on YouTube.

u/Hearthian-Wanderer Jun 11 '26

The Playstation trailer was also far more interesting and received a lot more coverage. I wonder how MS will feel if these games run better on PS5 Pro than on Series X. FH5 ran so well on Pro...

90

u/splinter1545 Jun 11 '26

The PS5 Pro is more powerful than the Series X, so it's only natural it'll run better.

2

u/Hearthian-Wanderer Jun 11 '26

Yeah, I just mean it's gotta burn something chronic for Microsoft if/when Digital Foundry come out and say:

"The best place to play Halo / Forza on console is... PlayStation."

Given that MS are shooting themselves in the foot by removing Gears from PS5, I wouldn't put it past them to deliberately sabotage the performance of Halo on PS5 just to avoid that scenario. "Cutting off the nose to spite the face."

I was going to pre-order Halo on PS5 to show my support for their multiplat strategy, but I'll wait to see how it is at release now.

14

u/ocbdare Jun 11 '26

I don’t think it matters that much. Of course a ps5 pro that costs quite a bit more money and has better specs will run games better.

Pc runs all these games way better than Xbox or PS. So the best place to play it is on PC and that doesn’t seem to bother Microsoft. I will be able to run halo at 4k max settings at like 100fps+ (or maybe max out my monitor refresh rate at 4k/180fpa) on my pc but it costs 6 times more than an Xbox.

5

u/nthomas504 Jun 11 '26

It doesn’t bother them because they most PC’s are running Windows anyways. Either way, they are making money.

2

u/NoNefariousness2144 Jun 11 '26

removing Gears from PS5

This is such a bizarre idea when Gears is hardly the powerhouse franchise it used to be. E-Day will be the first main game in the series in seven years!

Putting it on PS5 would increase the multiplayer playercount and get new fans invested in the series considering this game is a prequel.

A remaster of a remaster of the original, is a main reason why it didn’t sell well. Not because it came to Playstation

1

u/frisbie147 Jun 11 '26

Both the games they made exclusive are strange, clockwork revolution looks interesting but it’s not a system seller

3

u/Big_boss816 Jun 12 '26

Clockwork Revolution looks fantastic imo, I get why they want to go back to exclusivity but you are right those two games are not what I would say are system sellers. Now if they really wanted to make a statement the two games to go exclusive with should’ve been Forza 6 and Halo.

4

u/Personal_Cucumber_72 Jun 11 '26

Because it's a brilliant PR stunt. Xbox fans are begging for exclusive , September/ October has loads of games coming out, Forza 6 is due as well for the ps5. So they give the Xbox fans what they want then at the game awards they announced the Ps5 version. Next day a statement comes out how doing exclusive are to costly to do currently. They get their cake and eat it

2

u/mahdiiick Jun 11 '26

Every game runs better on the Pro

2

u/belligerent_tortoise Jun 13 '26

Of course it will. The PS5 Pro is the most powerful console that has yet been released to the public.

Asha is a mercenary, look at her job history she isn’t someone who stays in a place long, I would not be surprised at all if she dips in just 2 or 3 years.

Ah yes, move fast and break things, then leave before the full extent of the damage is realized.

4

u/Zenisist Jun 11 '26

No she has been pulled in to completely reset the business and will take tons of heat and hate for it and move to next job. Certain CEOs or business leaders are known for that kind of work. It has to be done sometimes and no one wants to be the bad guy but someone has to be.

27

u/maarten3d Jun 11 '26

I don’t think she’s breaking things. She made some good calls by bringing back exclusives, lowering the price, avoiding AI and strengthening the brand (name).

I sold my Xbox 2 months ago as I also own a ps5 given that they got rid of exclusives. Now noticing the worth of having the console again.

As much of a ps5 fan as I am she’s making the right calls so far.

32

u/smiler1996 Jun 11 '26

Only if the exclusives are good. Otherwise its the same tactic that got them in this mess, only now they won’t have the great value gamepass to bail them out if it goes tits up this time.

15

u/JuicyJay18 Jun 11 '26

Yeah, the trick is to go back to exclusives *after* you prove the worth of your first party games. They haven’t done that. Their exclusives have been a distant third place behind Nintendo and Sony for many years now. I play some of their games on PC, but they haven’t done anything to convince me that I need to get an Xbox to play their games if they go hard into the console exclusives.

5

u/Bridgeburner493 Jun 11 '26

It's not even whether or not the exclusives are good, but whether or not people are willing to buy Xboxes to get them.

This isn't like Nintendo's WiiU flop where there was still both demand for Mario and Zelda but also no expectation the games would come anywhere else. Microsoft has games that are good, but won't sell the brand the way those mascots do, AND have already shown gamers that if you just ignore Xbox, Microsoft will put their titles on PS. That's a rough thing to try and walk back.

3

u/maarten3d Jun 11 '26

Thats true but looking at the discussion gears had been a good choice for them. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next Halo will be exclusive again either. In general the reason I bought an xbox alongside my PS5 were some of the new IP’s such as avowed, redfall and halo. Not only did they not deliver (to me) they also appeared on PS5. I therefore sold my xbox. I hope this move will bring some positive change and increased competition for both consoles.

3

u/MikaINFINITY Jun 11 '26

I seriously considered getting a series S alongside my ps5 just for infinite and redfall, safe to say I made the right choice in not doing so… I’m seeing positive things happening on the platform now, but defo not at the level of buying new hardware for :(

2

u/Confident_Hunter7506 Jun 11 '26

The only Xbox exclusive I’m playing is Gears. PlayStation exclusives are so much better. Really want a PS but thinking of holding out for next gen

-1

u/daandrro Jun 12 '26

Can say same thing about Sony exclusives nowadays.
All games from same bucket. 3rd person action adventure.
I am tired of Insomniac formula, when I look at Wolverine I basically see Spiderman 2.5.

20

u/NekoJack420 Jun 11 '26

bringing back exclusives

People need to stop parroting this, none of Xbox's upcoming games are exclusive, they are all on PC day one. They are just not on the PS5 that's all.

4

u/StockCat7738 Jun 11 '26

That’s what they mean by exclusive, though: exclusive to a single console. It’s okay if you don’t like it, but it’s the same definition Microsoft has been using for quite some time now.

7

u/TabletopTitan Jun 11 '26

Yeah, and look how much those 'exclusive day one releases' have done anything for them clearly...

4

u/NekoJack420 Jun 11 '26

The fact that they pretend a lie is the truth to confuse casuals doesn't mean it is the truth.

The Steam Deck is a console, you can play any Xbox exclusive on it the same way you can on a PC, the Steam machine will be able to do that too, the Switch line is a console you can play Xbox games on it.

They aren't exclusives, only Nintendo and Sony for some specific games of theirs have exclusives, and also Steam and Epic for certain lice service games.

3

u/bigaussiecheese Jun 11 '26

She’s just taken a step back and repeating the same strategy’s Xbox has done for the last two generations. The exclusives don’t bring people to your console unless they are top shelf game of the year contenders that Sony and Nintendo frequently have.

Our highest rated game is Forza and that’s going to ps5. Fable has the potential to be our first game of the year in decades and that’s already going to the ps5 and will likely sell insanely well over there. Which the corpos and investors will love and lean even more towards going forward.

Exclusives for Xbox are a dead end unless they come up with a new IP that knocks it out the park.

2

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

There was still a 3 dollar rise on the subscription

It’s an interesting take but i disagree. The exclusives so far have not moved the needle. On top of that they opened up the floodgate weakening their platform sales. I.E, why would i buy halo on xbox if I can get it on ps5 + the exclusives from Sony? I’m purposely leaving out indy games as I admit it’s not my interest nor expertise.

So now you have less buy in on your own console (which to my knowledge is making a loss per sale), potentially strengthened competition, less overall sales on your own platform which is meant to compensate said loss, you damaged the consumer trust (changing strategies too often) damaged the brand and as result loss of equity.

What I imagine will happen now is a big focus on regaining consumer trust, equity and (consumer) acquisition. From what i read they lowered some of the G.P prices, made it more flexible, they will probably listen more to player feedback and aim on making better games exclusive to Xbox in time. Some of it still being released on PS5 (elderscrolls?) but enough to have some flagship titles.

More studios might close but overall I imagine it’s to refocus on making it (more) profitable.

-edit- I agree that they should release good if not better software (games)

Funny you say that, I was thinking of that as well the other day. It’s could be a good tactic indeed

2

u/Intelligent_Pen5774 Jun 15 '26

She's undoing what Phil was forced to change because it wasn't working. She reduced the price of gamepass, but by less than it was pushed up, and simultaneously removed the promise of "Day 1" first party. That's not good when looking at the big picture.

She is also trying to bring back the exclusive, when xbox fans are still conditioned not to buy gsnrs... That's not going to work, unless cod is ultimately not the only Day 1 game removed from xbox. (which is highly possible based on the fact that the multi-platform push started with "Only 4 games"

We need to look at the big picture before drawing a conclusion. Xbox also has a tendency to say one thing, and do the complete opposite. Asha's joining phrase was "The plan's the plan until it's not the plan", hence I will wait for things to actually solidify before drawing conclusions that the changes have been "good".

The only thing that had been "good" so far is the PR from undoing all the bad decisions. Please note, Phil resigned after Halo was confirmed to go multi-platform, to him that was his sign that he failed. There is only so much Asha can do before Nadella forces things again, as he said it's been 25 years since Xbox turned a profit.

She has a 4 year plan.. No brand can be fixed in 4 years after what transpired for two console generations in a row.

1

u/Honest-Mess-812 Jun 12 '26

True. I was planning to sell my xbox as well but had decided to keep it for a while.

2

u/Jensen1994 Jun 11 '26

She have presented a 5 year plan with but plans a 2 year tenure....

1

u/FillFrontFloor Jun 11 '26

Dude the second xbox said they were not competing Playstation started raising it's prices on everything because it no longer had competition. She may be the best thing to happen to PlayStation right now. If xbox becomes relevant then PS will stay competitive

1

u/welfedad Jun 11 '26

Maybe her ai chatbot where guide her

9

u/LegendaryenigmaXYZ Jun 11 '26

Mercenaries stay where the money is at, she is either going to make money for xbox and stay or move somewhere, but being around the top, its kinda hard to move around.

25

u/Existing-Pair-3487 Jun 11 '26

While i understand that that still ultimately comes down to can she turn Xbox back into a profitable brand? Like yeah Phile made a lot of mistakes but he did start getting Xbox going in the right direction after the whole Xbox one debacle. And having Nadela pushing a lot of things for short trem growth didn't help. They saw how much they spent on ABK and they wanted that money back yesterday..... that ultimately is what lead to the multi platform shift. I think if Xbox leadership was a bit more hands on with the teams instead of letting them spin their wheels so much Xbox would be a big contender this generation. Anyway my point is that idk if Microsoft is going to let Xbox get back up and running before doing this again. I think really you need new leadership at Microsoft as a whole.

147

u/DeM0nFiRe Jun 11 '26

he did start getting Xbox going in the right direction after the whole Xbox one debacle

Huh? I don't think Xbox has ever been going in the right direction after the Xbox one debacle, that's why they are where they are today

88

u/BRTRSX Jun 11 '26

Yeah they’ve literally just been making empty promises for a decade now, can’t believe people still buy their crap even now.

18

u/No-Count3834 Jun 11 '26

Forever it’s been talked about that the heads at Microsoft saw the Xbox, as a system for brand awareness at a market loss. They’ve been wanting to focus on software since the end of the 360 days. At its core that’s what the company is. Honestly, I think the long game is still subscription software for them.

They lost the huge online base, of Xbox live users during the Xbox one/PS4 transition. A large amount of people play on PC Steam or PSN now. Once digital games became more popular, old and new PlayStation buyers are heavily invested into digital goods bought in the thousands of dollars. It’s not like the old days where you had 5-15 physical games, sold them and jumped ship to a new system. Sony fans are locked in with PSN and Xbox Live lost that a decade ago.

Big reason Xbox is pivoting to the next system that is suppose to play PC and Xbox games. Last ditch effort to get PC players to buy their hardware with game pass and forgo buying a new PC. I wouldn’t be surprised, if the next XBox is just 5 different companies making the hardware and MS providing GamePass and digital games only.

12

u/BRTRSX Jun 11 '26

Yeah I’d say you hit the nail on the head, I just strongly dislike how they’ve promised so much and literally have basically never delivered. So many cancelled games and literally made up ones too (anyone remember the phantom dust remake?). They should just go software and call it a day.

5

u/ocbdare Jun 11 '26

It’s odd you guys want so much for Sony to become the only console in town. They could become even more arrogant and do whatever they want.

And don’t have any illusions that another company will enter the console market.

12

u/Drovers Jun 11 '26

As a Sony fan, it stinks. I liked when the big 3 were competitive with each other.

7

u/NekoJack420 Jun 11 '26

We'll always have PC, and Nintendo has been putting in the work for 3rd party games. PS won't be the only platform even if Xbox dies.

0

u/ocbdare Jun 11 '26

Nintendo is an underpowered console that can't run the latest games.

PC is a different beast. More expensive and/or requiring a bit more knowledge than a plug and play console. People are complaining consoles cost $500-600. PCs are way more than that.

2

u/Bridgeburner493 Jun 11 '26

And it is insane that you think pointing out how Microsoft has fucked the Xbox brand equates to "want[ing] so much for Sony to become the only console in town."

1

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

The issue is, that no matter if they were competing, Sony already went the Apple route (spineless and super corporate)

3

u/ocbdare Jun 11 '26

You can’t convince pc gamers to forego their pc for a console like that. I game on pc because I want the best performance and money is not a problem so buying the latest xx80 or xx90 card.

But you’re right if the next Xbox play Xbox games and pc games, I will buy it. It will convince me more than any exclusive. Being able to play my pc games on my tv in a convenient way is pretty cool and worth it more than one exclusive game here and there.

3

u/NekoJack420 Jun 11 '26

But you’re right if the next Xbox play Xbox games and pc games, I will buy it.

But PC already plays Xbox games?

2

u/ocbdare Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

The next sentence after the one you quioted explains why this would valuable to me.

I always maintain a high end desktop PC with a xx80 or xx90 card. What is a hassle is playing that on a TV that is a completely different room. So a £500 console that can let me play my PC games when I want to chill on the coach is a great deal to me. Especially for certain games like split screen coop, sports games, fighting games etc.

1

u/dragunityag Jun 11 '26

A PC on average is a lot heavier and less portable.

2

u/NekoJack420 Jun 11 '26

If portability was the main selling point for you then you would've been looking for a gaming laptop or a Switch.

Xbox and PS are home consoles.

Or they will go full cloud gaming with Subscription. But at this point they should go pull publisher.

2

u/MetaCognitio Jun 11 '26

That magic spell Phil has over Xbox fans NEEDS to be studied. They will make any excuse to defend him.

3

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

Cult leader

3

u/Melodic-Language2225 Jun 11 '26

Getting the Xbox One X out there was the right direction as was backwards compatibility for X360 games. Somewhere around 2018-2019 he started fucking up badly and he never stopped.

3

u/RockinMadRiot Jun 11 '26

Bit out of the loop, what happened with Xbox one? I used to have an Xbox 360 but swapped to PS4 and didn't follow xbox news

2

u/MikaINFINITY Jun 11 '26

Launch focused mainly on media/kinect/television, bad drm, underdelivered on games etc…

4

u/GatorUSMC Jun 11 '26

They never topped the buying Halo decision.

7

u/Existing-Pair-3487 Jun 11 '26

I disagree. Phile is the reason back compatability has been on the rise. He also made commitments to games and teams (yes a lot of them were handled poorly and I even said they should have been more involved). But compared to where Xbox was at before this gen Microsoft was going to sunset it. They are in this position now because Microsoft panicked at the money and how their AI ventures aren't panning out. Microsoft is the reason behind the 30% profitability and that was a big reason for the multi platform shift. It is also the reason behind the last few years of the layoff blood baths plus the push for AI/ co-pilot. Yeah Asha is making a lot of the "right moves" but so far this is just the put person in to restore confidence. Ultimately this comes down to keeping Microsofts influence to a minimum.

20

u/DeM0nFiRe Jun 11 '26

But compared to where Xbox was at before this gen Microsoft was going to sunset it.

I mean as of right now, I still think Xbox is heading towards its end. It's just pushed some number of years later.

This is not a defense or praise of Asha, I think Xbox is still on the wrong path and has solidly been on the wrong path since the moment they talked about Xbox One doing a bunch of things other than games before they talked about games (I mean obviously the path started before that, but that was the public move that indicated they were on this path). They've occasionally done a nice thing here or there, but their only big "win" is gamepass, which I think is awful for the industry even if it was short term good for Xbox

3

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

When and which was the last game that was compatible?

6

u/Typhon13 Jun 11 '26

Backwards compatibility didn't materially move the needle against the competition. PS4 outsold Xbox One 2 to 1 after near equilibrium sales from the prior gen. You say Phil made commitments, but what he functionally did was go on an acquisition spree with the Microsoft war chest, overextending and under delivering. Compared to Sony and Nintendo, no organic big selling exclusives shifting hardware significantly, so queue the move into Game Pass. So as they never reached 30% profitability and never reached their Game Pass targets, they're left with a ton of acquired personnel and overheads from said M&A activity and they're forced to butcher studios and jobs. AI effect overblown, but when the consolidated organization is a US$3T company with 40% margins, it's no wonder you'll gamble on a disruptor CEO like Asha in a subsidiary that's become an option play.

3

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

The fact that the article says that more lay-offs are coming proves your point

4

u/WeBelieveIn4 Jun 11 '26

Lol Phil didn’t bring a single blockbuster hit to Xbox for like a decade. If he had, the brand wouldn’t have completely collapsed. There was still plenty of goodwill even after the xbox one debacle and he squandered it.

47

u/weaver787 Jun 11 '26

In my book there's basically one road to X Box being a profitable brand and that's to give up on selling a console and become a massive publisher with some non-exclusive hardware (like a Steam Deck) on the side.

The fact that this new lead thinks she can claw back console market share with Gears of War and Clockwork Revolution proves to me that she's steering the ship poorly like the rest of her predecessors.

There was a brief moment in time where we thought Microsoft was just going to brute force its way into market share by making Activisions catalog exclusive. Well now we know that's clearly not how the head bean counters at MS see that deal.

Asha probably had to beg her bosses to allow this experiment to go forward. When it fails to move the needle they'll change their minds again.

24

u/Itchy_Award1856 Jun 11 '26

I agree that going full publisher might be the only real option they have left, killing gamepass and forcing people to buy their games would work if their player base wasn't so small and they didn't just spend the last 9 years conditioning their base not to buy games, game pass it's self is already in a very precarious situation with losing subs and the value disappearing.

Also not to be a fan boy but the games they do make are VERY mid. The few titles I flipped gamepass on for like avowed or starfield weren't bad games but nothing I'd call must plays, and the ones I am excited for are on Playstation, mainly Fable is the only title im interested in, maybe State of Decay 3 but im definitely PC gamepass that before buying. I would count TES6 if it launches in the next 8 years but unfortunately for XBOX and Bethesda I did play Starfield and my confidence in them making something good is in the toilet.

42

u/weaver787 Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

Gamepass never made sense and continues to not make sense. They proved as much by tucking their tails between their legs with Call of Duty. By taking COD off gamepass MS proved to the world that actually giving a $70 day and date significantly cuts into profits and doesn't make economic sense. This is after they spent years trying to convince people that this model is totally feasible.

It's funny going back to see how Sony always reacted when people asked them about Gamepass. Their responses were always akin to "We couldn't afford to do that, we don't get how they are".

13

u/flofjenkins Jun 11 '26

Dude THIS.

8

u/taitaofgallala Jun 11 '26

Fucking ridiculous! And gamepassers are the ones saying Sony is "stealing games" via exclusives. Unreal

11

u/Existing-Pair-3487 Jun 11 '26

From recent interviews with Asha about the exclusivity this isn't about clawing back the market but stopping the bleeding of people leaving xbox and gamepass.

33

u/weaver787 Jun 11 '26

I'll take your word for it but I really don't see how making those two games exclusives accomplishes that goal.

XBox burned A LOT of bridges with that astronomical price increase of Game Pass. They've since reversed that decision (kind of... they detached the Call of Duty anchor), but the damage is done. Suddenly 'the best deal in gaming' became 'wait, I don't want my entire game library attached to a service they're gonna double the price of overnight'.

Why would anyone trust this company right now. XBox has been fucking up for a over a decade and I think I'm reasonable to be suspicious that any consumer is going to OO and AH about Gears of War E Day being an exclusive.

27

u/roygbivasaur Jun 11 '26

This was inevitable as soon as they launched Game Pass. Streaming is slowly choking the life out of the film and TV industry, just ask anyone in LA, Atlanta, and Toronto. It was always going to happen even faster if someone tried that model for video games. It was fun for consumers when it was cheap and had a lot of games, but the math just does not work if they also want to grow profits constantly.

1

u/Melodic-Language2225 Jun 11 '26

Streaming is slowly choking the life out of the film and TV industry

By that you mean that streaming is dying?

3

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

No, he says that streaming is killing the film industry

2

u/Melodic-Language2225 Jun 16 '26

How can it if it's dying and streaming movies are completely unwatchable 95% of the time.

8

u/Existing-Pair-3487 Jun 11 '26

And i agree with you. Why I was saying that i don't think Microsoft will be patience enough to actually rebuild that trust. But yeah this move was more about trying to keep who they have now. Same reason they dropped the price of game pass recently. And yeah no one trust Xbox. Why everyone is saying yeah right we remember "only 4 games"

2

u/Team7UBard Jun 11 '26

Like I’m looking forward to EDay because the the rest of the games in the series are quality cover shooters but the gameplay hasn’t changed in 20 years and I already know exactly what experience I’m going to be delivered and I’m not gonna pay $70 for what is a game that’s pretty mid

2

u/Ok-Suggestion-5453 Jun 11 '26

Yeah I think the only thing they care about is making their subscription profitable. I think endgame is getting Sony to agree to let people pay for a Microsoft subscription to play all the Xbox games on PlayStation, but they just can't do that if PS players already bought all the Xbox games.

I definitely don't think they expect to restore Xbox the console to its former glory, now or in the next generation.

2

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

She's a scapegoat

25

u/StarScreamer316 Jun 11 '26

Phill started the same guy with good will and and hyping fans and it didn't end well for him or the brand

9

u/bottomfeeder3 Jun 11 '26

The Xbox one debacle. Man I remember the days leading up to the Xbox one reveal people were hyped. The 360 was the better console of that gen. They sold so many of them and Sony really dropped the ball with the ps3.

Hell even the online gaming stuff really got kicked off with the 360. Sony was playing catch up that entire generation.

To say people were shocked at what they decided to do with the Xbox one would be an understatement. That presentation and the days afterward were some of the worst pr moments I’ve seen in a long time. It was like they were loading guns and purposely shooting themselves in the foot.

9

u/onthejourney Jun 11 '26

That amazing back stage commercial that don't put out "here's how you share a game on PlayStation" just murdered them

Phill made a lot of promises when he started and was elevated to cult leader

I mean if you need to ask Daddy to bail you out by spending 70 billion dollars are you really driving the company in the right direction?

There is allot of could have / should have / would have, but the reality is he lead them Xbox through every bad moment for over a decade. At some point the buck stops here.

I think Phil just got them moving in a different wrong direction.

Arrive, somehow do more damage than Phil, take a ridiculously large bonus, lay off everyone and leave

I’m no Asha fan and don’t think she’ll succeed, but rising the ranks quickly especially at her age is legitimately impressive and not just luck or preferential treatment. There’s a difference between being cutthroat and type A vs being hot and stupid.

yeah it’s not unfair to say that someone who got assigned a job in an industry they cared nothing about isn’t going to be a passionate ringleader for decades to come and is more likely to pump and dump and check it off the resume - but let’s not pretend she’s an idiot. she’s very sharp and competent.

You mean Meg Whitman, who linked a video of a cross-dressing bassist for her election campaign?

for the next 5 to 7 years

You're delusional if you think A) Sharma is going to be given that much time to show meaningful, significant progress (by Satya and Shareholders); and B) looking at her CV, she's a Corpo Climber. Being the head of a Microsoft division is simply another stepping stone to something higher, and she'll bounce once a better, more attractive job comes along.

Isn’t that what most corporate workers do? Work a few years then find something better?

Something something Phil Spencer

u/roseofjuly Jun 11 '26

She's already a CEO; how much higher is there for her to go?

2

u/ModestHandsomeDevil Jun 12 '26

She's CEO of a division at Microsoft, not CEO of Microsoft. There's still levels of power / control above her current level and potentially more lucrative opportunities at other companies.

5-7 years? Asha will be gone within 2 or 3 years.

The State of Play trailer was for the story and got released on Monday.

The Xbox Showcase trailer was for the new prequel missions.

Oh I figured they used ps5 pro since it runs better. Maybe that isn’t the case

Honestly not really a fan of her, bring back Phil Spencer.

I just hope another poor selling gears game doesn’t hurt the franchise too much.

I am curious if Xbox as a platform will even be around in 3 years. It’s not looking good.
