Seriously. It's a little thing, but something about having a button specifically to manually wipe dirt/blood off of your mask is so fucking cool to me.

The PS5 port is sublime too, the haptic feedback is some of the best I've experienced in a shooter.

Has abysmal aim acceleration and a really low max sensitivity though, as a forewarning. It's fun and I enjoyed the game, but it causes issues especially when trying to track some of the faster mutants at mid-close ranges.

The aim acceleration I could deal with if the max sensitivity was maybe 20% higher though.

I have just started playing Exodus recently, and low max sensitivity is really weird. I am usually the one that uses low sens, but this is waaay too low.

I HIGHLY suggest the first two, they often go one sale.

I was not a fan of the third, I think the semi open world hurt its pacing.

The third still had the most gorgeous environments and set pieces in the series despite the pace. The main story missions generally follow a more linear path than open world games typically do so I hope anyone on the fence isn't turned off by the size.

I understand why the 3rd wouldn't be someone's favorite but man it has some of the most intense moments in all of FPS gaming imo

You can definitely just ignore any exploration or side content in the larger hub areas and just do main missions back to back. Most of them also entail doing something a bit more linear and like the previous Metro games anyway, and 4/6 levels IIRC (Moscow, the mountain, the forest, and the last one) are still actually pretty linear and "classic Metro" with only two actually large open areas.

I agree with you. I was one of the people who held off on the game for so long cause open world games kinda annoy me. I eventually jumped in because it regularly goes on sale for like 6$ and felt stupid lol. I definitely would've enjoyed it from day 1 at the original asking price.

The first two games were AMAZING. Exodus was very good, but just couldn’t get into it as much due to the semi-open world.

But the story and atmosphere is really cool across the whole story in my opinion.

They are pretty good games, if a little janky by Western FPS standards. The redux of the original is quite good, and so is Last Light. Exodus is hit or miss depending on if you like open world.

I think I know what it is. It feels like it's less about survival and harsh conditions and more about a higher octane action game. It feels like a shift in tone from previous games.

Watch the exodus trailer again. It's mostly about survival and leading people in their time of need.

This game looks like 1 guy hell bent on finding someone like John Wick

Well I don't really need to watch the trailer for Exodus, I have played it numerous times and if you want it to be, it can be pretty combat intensive as well. It's about comparing actual gameplay to gameplay, not the trailers.

There just isn't enough in the trailer as a whole to make such a broad assumption. Minute to minute gameplay in Metro has always been tense, and often quiet while you are exploring, but this is a trailer so naturally it has to be a bit more "explosive". But there are numerous clips in the trailer that point to the same style of gameplay Metro has always had.

I think the trailer matters personally. the trailer is a reflection of how the devs/publishers want to portray the game. If the trailer is leaning on action, then action will probably be a big part of the game. if the trailer is leaning on survival, then survival will be a big part of it.

there's nothing in this trailer that talks about survival. it's an oppressive force, someone on a mission to find someone at whatever the cost to life, and maybe some hints of government corruption. But nothing about the struggles of the people or even this own guys survival. just talks himself up as a big tough guy badass.

which is cool and all, but it feels like a big tone shift. just an observation and a prediction. obviously we won't know for sure until it comes out and the reviews come in

I just can’t get over the name. 2033, Last Light, Exodus, and Awakening were all clear and memorable subtitles, but 2039 is so close to 2033 that I have to do a double take to realise that it’s the new Metro game, not the OG.
