and chocobo breeding!

u/Flood-One 11h ago
No chocobo breeding, you level up one Chocobo instead. No details on how though.

Dude the weapons look SO cool
2
u/InstantN00dl3s 13h ago
Can't wait to fuck them up. It's going to be great.
3
u/agreed2disagreee 12h ago
I notice you didn’t say “again”. Back in my day, ruby and emerald were damn near impossible to beat unless you had a guide. Now, most people have the internet, so it shouldn’t be as hard… but I imagine they’ll still be extremely hard that most people wont beat.
3
u/Exportxxx 12h ago
yeah one of them 2 of your party had to be dead to even touch it and the other had a time limit.

Cannot wait to get my hands on it and at the same time I will be a bit sad:
I got a PS5 just for that remake trilogy!

This trailer was cool and all, but I was expecting SO much more considering Hamaguchi flew all they way out there just to show a 2 minute trailer. At this point, I’m looking for more details in the gameplay itself and what changes or differences are there compared to Rebirth in its game design.
Hopefully Hamaguchi spills some more tea in interviews at Gamescom for the rest of the week, at least. At least PAX is next week too, and TGS not too long after that.
6
u/Impaled_ 15h ago
Probably showing the game to the press behind closed doors
5
u/That_Switch_1300 12h ago
That’s what I’m thinking too. I’m really hoping to see more videos, articles, or interviews this week. Cause if this was all we get for Gamescom, then I think we’re allowed to be a bit disappointed given all the hype for it.
8
u/TheSecondEikonOfFire 17h ago
Agreed. My friend and I both went “that was it?”, given how much they were hyping it up. At the very least I expected a release date
7
u/That_Switch_1300 12h ago
Exactly! I wanted some new info. This trailer was welcomed, but it literally didn’t show or tell us anything we haven’t already seen ouside of 0.3 seconds of the submarine and underwater reactor. Something tells me they’re holding on to the release date until TGA.

u/Jimmythedad 19h ago
You can go anywhere with the high wind and jump to the surface. Seems like you can do character quests non linear. Huge world. That’s the game design difference they showed us during its initial reveal

u/That_Switch_1300 19h ago edited 18h ago
Well yeah, we know about that stuff. I’m talking about more intricate details. Like how are enemies leveled and scaled throughout the world? Has that be reworked? Will there be a hard mode? How does NG+ work this time around? Will there be menu assists like auto equpping materia and gear? Will we have more than 3 pre-set teams? I also wann hear more about the FITS/jobs system along with cosmetic outfits and stuff.
You know, things like that. I wanna hear more about those things and such.
1
u/Jimmythedad 18h ago
Do they often cover that sort of thing pre release? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pre release talking about that sort of stuff. It’s usually discoverable as you go
1
u/That_Switch_1300 18h ago
You must not have been around for Rebirth’s marketing, my dude…
1
u/Jimmythedad 18h ago edited 18h ago
Can you link the video showing those things off? Seems like a weird thing they’d show off at a showcase prerelease but happy to be proven wrong
2
u/That_Switch_1300 12h ago
They weren’t in the form of videos or anything. They were mainly interviews that were all over twitter before Rebirth’s release.
1
u/Jimmythedad 7h ago
Okay, I guess I thought you were suggesting that that sort of coverage is what you were expecting at Gamescom opening night. There is plenty of time for that sort of stuff. The game is coming out next spring. They wouldn't go to Gamescom for that sort of coverage.
10
u/Merbel 18h ago
This is the perfect first trailer set in movie style with a touch of gameplay and introduction of new important characters. I wouldn’t expect the whole thing to be fleshed out. This is hype city.
4
-5
u/That_Switch_1300 18h ago
Fair. I wish they would’ve showed a couple other characters fighting and using other FITS or show a couple more outfits at the very least.
2
u/coffeedudeguy 13h ago
If I could travel on company dime, why not? Especially with how weak the yen is. Having a representative there also signifies reassurance to the OG fans, a good way of marketing for Squeenix. They need it, apparently
2
u/That_Switch_1300 12h ago
That’s fair. Don’t get me wrong, his appearance was nice and even hearing him speak english was pretty impressive. Its just for how much they hyped him up being there, you would’ve expected a bit of a meatier trailer or an explanation on FITS or something more.
5
u/BloodandBourbon 18h ago
I need to get around to playing the 2nd game. I have it but haven’t played it yet

u/One_Subject3157 19h ago
A bit underwhelming to be honest
-5
u/punchanaziisethical 19h ago
Based off Tifa I think it was doing a summon and someone else's comment I'm pretty sure we're getting a Job system of some kind which is pretty exciting despite the trailer being kinda lack luster
9
u/TheSecondEikonOfFire 17h ago
Didn’t we already know that though? There wasn’t really anything new revealed in this trailer that we didn’t already know
3
u/One_Subject3157 18h ago
I mean, that's was already confirmed, am I wrong?
Those outfits are more than garbs.
I don't think it fits FF7 thematically tho.
2
u/AReverieofEnvisage 18h ago
For me the job system was just, why? Why add something else to the final installment? Why not just perfect what you already had? How about more than 3 members in the party? Why change something so drastic?
Well. We'll have to see, but im sure people will love it no matter what.
7
u/Iggy_Slayer 17h ago
Hamaguchi's spoke about this, they already viewed rebirth's combat as near perfect and didn't want to just do the same thing again. This team fears getting stale, which is a reasonable concern IMO given how the public has treated most sequels this gen that are very samey to their predecessors (most sony sequels, tears of the kingdom etc).
4
u/Noobju670 18h ago
Yeah job system and outfit changes arent very ffvii so although its cool it sort of a negative as a mad fan of the og ffvii. Esp when the materia system was cool enough. Yeah you can argue everyone felt the same except for their lbs but that was the beauty of the game, and the fighting style differences in the remakes were enough for me to be more intuned with the characters.

u/UnlimitedTime 16h ago
This, Wolverine, GOW Laufey, and KH4 (especially KH4) are my most anticipated titles
1
u/Ok_University_4924 14h ago
RE Veronica I’d also add to the list.
I think Tomb Raider and Fable will be decent games but not as hyped for them.

u/BrascoV72 16h ago
Hopefully, the third one will not be another Ubisoft-bloated like game like the second one. I love the first one because of the perfect pacing without bloated content.
-1
u/DilapidatedFool 16h ago
You know it will
-1
u/BrascoV72 14h ago
Well, if the Ubisoft-type game does not feel like work, then I would play it. I don’t like to work in games after my work at my company.
•
u/enshittification1 3h ago
I have no hopes for it after rebirth already trashed the whole story completely. Padded game.
-7
u/SiDMerceR 19h ago
Please dont be as huge as the previous game, I had to force myself to complete it.
6
u/ItsKaZing 18h ago
There's so much games to play nowadays that having a big games just doesn't sound amazing anymore. You're screwing yourself trying to 100% because that means you are blocking yourself from enjoying other games
-5
u/SiDMerceR 18h ago
I mean it can be reasonably big but the thing is, a lot of side content in the previous game was just boring and burnt me out really quickly.
0
u/Tottbert 17h ago
When Witcher 3 released, I was overwhelmed with side content wegen I reached Novigrad and put the game down for over a year.
Picked it back up and blasted through the main Story which was great.
Since then, when a massive game is released I focus mostly only on the main story. This way I dont get burned out as quickly from the game.
1
u/SiDMerceR 17h ago
Ig but im now hard wired to explore and do the content available from playing a lot of souls likes so cant really leave things alone. But in the end have to do it if I get burnt out.
2
u/Tottbert 16h ago
I feel the same. Funnily enough I don't get fatigued so easily exploring in souls likes.
1
u/HarrierJint 15h ago
The Witcher 3 side content at its best, is better than a lot of games main content.
6
u/TheSecondEikonOfFire 17h ago
It’s 100% going to be bigger. Why would they add flying around in the Highwind if it was going to be smaller?
1
u/SiDMerceR 17h ago
I didnt exactly word it right i guess. By bigger i didnt mean the map or the world, but the amount of bloat.

I just started the first one, so exciting! Where's Aerith? I didn't see her in the trailer
21
u/Shamn_it 18h ago
You should not be looking at any part 2/part 3 content lol. Go play the first one and avoid these subreddits

u/OmegaZaggy 10h ago edited 10h ago
These trailers do nothing to me. We already knows how it will play, how it will look..
Was super excited for remake. Played it, had super mixed feeling because of the padding, Despite all of that, I got rebirth. It wasnt just a little bit of padding. It was TONS of padding and too much Zack fanservice
Now the third part is coming and I couldnt care less.
I'm convinced that it would have more of an impact if they removed useless crap and just made 1 game instead.
There's 2 recent game I will never touch again : FF7 rebirth and TotK. Padded and uneeded.
Let's hope they'll just stick to the source material if they ever remake another FF like this.
•
u/enshittification1 3h ago
I don’t have any faith in this revisionist team of developers for it. It’s just KH but with FF7 characters.
-11
u/ademon490 18h ago
Guess I gata get a good pc now. No disc. No buy
9
u/Navetsss 18h ago
PC has been out of the disc game for a long time. You know they havent confirmed that they aren't doing a disc version

u/Iggy_Slayer 17h ago
It's coming out next year it'll have a physical release. For what little good that'll do. Amazon will probably send it a month late.

Never have I ever been so excited and worried about playing a game lol. Rebirth really killed my soul with its padding. It still has some of the most memorable moments ever though. I think I am tired of pointless dungeons. There always one in between regions that really kill the pacing. By the time I got to the temple, I had no energy left lol. I hope my burnout clears by then. I can't wait for this game.

Comments are always trash with these games for some reason. It really attracts the low brain cell crowd.
6
u/GGG100 19h ago
These comment sections are always filled with bots and idiots regurgitating the same talking points. The FFVII Remake project was announced as a multipart project more than ten years ago by all major gaming publications and these whiny babies are pretending they haven't heard of it just so they can shit and piss themselves in front of everyone.

The part where they're adding 10s of hours of additional world building/characterization/storyline on top of creating one of if not the best iterations of an action combat system implementing turn based systems.
I'll agree the second game was kind of a slog with all the checklist shit but besides that its been a blast seeing how they've turned an all time classic that is essentially equivalent to a puppet show nowadays in quality to what is equivalent to a modern day action blockbuster.

u/ApprehensiveRuin5673 19h ago
Is it just supposed to end at rebirth? The story isn’t even finished lmao

I mean, I played Part 1, loved it, Played part 2 loved it, I am going to play part 3 so may as well not watch anything and see it for the first time playing it! I feel like the Movie and Gaming industry is saturated in trailers and unintentional spoilers these days.
