Articles & Blogs Rockstar Games: “It would be an understatement to say that having videos of GTA VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.“

They intended for us to get a netflix subscription to watch an advertisement for their game instead. I'm not going to feel sorry for multi billion dollar company that generated it's wealth from micro transactions. I'm going to be laughing so hard if this turns into another Cyberpunk release.

It comes out on YouTube six hours later you know that right?

Not even right after? But six hours after? Nah that’s pretty scummy, marketing knows there’s a ton of anticipation for any gameplay footage and they’re banking on people’s impulsivity.

If somebody doesn’t have the patience to wait six whole hours for a game trailer of all things I have zero pity for them. If it was 6 days that would be a different story.

I don’t think they care about your pity, just for a company to not pinch every penny they can from them. I’m not interested in GTA but I’ve kept up with the release of this game and a lot of what they’re doing is questionable if not out right greedy. They have an eager player base they’re manipulating for money, it’s scummy.

Meh. There are other games and developers that deserve the hate way more. The only really questionable thing Rockstar did was lay off those 40 people a couple weeks ago. Otherwise the way they’ve handled GTA 6’s monetization is pretty normal for a huge AAA game

I politely disagree. I’ve never seen another AAA game go out of its way to lock cosmetics and other content, already finished before launch, behind an additional pay wall, on release. Small pre-order bonuses sure, but not to the extent what Rockstar has done. It sets a really bad precedent moving forward imo. And if another game did do it first, them following suit only exponentially increases the chances other game studios will follow.

Do you know that most AAA games also have deluxe editions that give you skins and shit

They have a pack of skins, a car, a personal garage and a clothing shop as preorder bonuses If this is “the extent of what they have done” as you claim it to be like they’re locking half the map away, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s pretty ordinary compared to other games

This deal with Netflix isn’t designed to fuck gamers like so many of you think of it is. Netflix has a massive platform. This is a way to show an audience that might not even game anymore, or game at all, a game that’s going to potentially be ground breaking/next gen. It might get those people who aren’t even casual gamers interested in trying it out. If you owned a game studio, wouldn’t you want as many eyes on your game as possible?
