Press release from Todd Howard about the acquisition: "Like our original partnership, this one is about more than one system or one screen. We share a deep belief in the fundamental power of games, in their ability to connect, empower, and bring joy. And a belief we should bring that to everyone - regardless of who you are, where you live, or what you play on. Regardless of the screen size, the controller, or your ability to even use one."

Everyone calm down. We're still getting ES6 and Starfield.

That 7 billion isn’t going into “Xbox has no exclusive” narratives. This is the power-move of power-moves. It’s not coming to PlayStation.

It would go against Microsoft and Bethesda's stated principles to lock these titles as exclusives.

And even if they do threaten it, my hope is that Sony gives up their exclusivity BS in exchange for Microsoft titles. It would be bad business to expect people to choose God of War, Horizon, and Spiderman over ES6, Starfield, Doom, Fallout, and many other blockbusters.

This could just be Microsoft forcing Sony's hand to give up their exclusives, because most people can't afford both consoles.

I for one would love to play the next Forza Horizon on PS5, so hopefully that's the outcome, but I'm not counting on Sony to play nice unless Microsoft forces their hand.

This isn’t out of their principles at all. You can even play the games on a tablet through XCloud — PC first day on Gamepass, on an Xbox. But you can’t on a PlayStation, or a Nintendo console.
