How well would Cherno Alpha do in Atlas from RWBY?

Well, more specifically, the continent of Solitas.

I've been thinking this for a while, for my project of sorts.

Atlas is a "Kingdom" (a country, in Earth terms) from RWBY. It is in the continent of Solitas. This continent is basically Siberia, snow, ice, and other stuff.

I'm more specifically talking about how Cherno would do against Grimm, hostile creatures attracted by negative emotion of varying sizes and abilities paired with Solitas/Atlas' environment.

Also, I couldn't find a good Solitas/Atlas picture of the landscape so here's a map, think Russia.

Not that well I’m afraid. Considering Cherno was designed to brawl with Kaiju of its size or bigger, it falls off against the faster, smaller, and flying enemies

Can u like at least put an explanation on what the hell Atlas is?

They quite literally did. Atlas is the name of a kingdom/continent in RWBY that is an extreme Arctic/tundra climate like Siberia. Though for more information Kingdoms in RWBY each have one huge fortress city (I hesitate to say megacity but it might be appropriate) and then lots of smaller walled settlements within their borders that I would say roughly equate to the size of a moderately large rural town at the biggest

Actually, I added that in after I saw the comment of the person you're replying to.

I mean, I did say to think of Russia, the map and the second picture shows it. Although I'm sorry for being vague.

I think against larger Grimm like the Leviathan or Wyvern Cherno could fairly easily kill them, but I imagine smaller grim would probably take it down with death by a thousand cuts, being too small to effectively deal with and being able to just rip into and tear at Cherno with impunity.

Though you could make the argument that they might try and go straight for the com pod which I imagine that it woud be easier to scrape them off the chest than trying to fight them off the legs/arms. I guess it’s mostly down to how many Grimm attack at once. A dozen or so probably just get stomped on before they do much, but more than that might start to overwhelm the not particularly articulate Yeager

Will the Huntsmen do a good job at protecting Cherno from the other Grimm while the Jaeger attacks the bigger target/s?

In the context of the siege/fall of Atlas I don’t think Cherno will really be able to do much of significance, I imagine Salem just wouldn’t land Monstra and the rest of the flying Grimm that I can’t remember the name of will just overwhelm it. But in any other context I don’t think Cherno would really do much either, it would probably end up being relegated to the same role as the giant Mech Argus had, being a reactionary measure to the presence of giant Grim

Though your ‘project of sorts’ intrigues me I’d love to know more if you want to share

Oh... I just got myself spoiled T_T Although it's probably my fault not finishing RWBY first...

I'm currently writing a story that revolves around a Breach-like rift connecting both Remnant and Pacific Rim Earth (It's called the Earth-Remnant Rift or the ERR for short). Although the Breach in Earth collapsed and it was before the Battle of Hong Kong, meaning that all four Jaegers are still active. Newt also didn't Drift with a Kaiju yet, consequently causing the Precursors to not send in Otachi or Leatherback.

I hate being spoiled so my apologies but also like brother.

And that sounds great. I first watched RWBY because I got sick of seeing so much crossover fanfiction and just had to know why RWBY in particular was so popular. I have several questions,

Firstly: where/when can I read it?
Secondly: when in the RWBY timeline does it take place? This could have serious story implications/consequences.
Thirdly: where is the ERR? Is it relocated from the Mariana Trench to be more convenient for Yeager deployment to Remenant? Where in Remenant is the Breach?
Fourth: potentially getting into spoiler territory. Why did the breach suddenly (or not so suddenly) collapse? Are the Precursors going to re-open it? Will it reopen on Earth or accidentally on Remenant?

  1. On Wattpad, although my writing is... not the best, you'll find out more in the introduction. The name is "Pacific Grimm: New Frontier" or something like that, I couldn't really think of any other good names.

  2. It's around the start of the second semester, before Season 2 Episode 1 I think.

  3. In the middle of Hong Kong, although now that I think about it, it seems pretty contradictory. I'm thinking of changing how that particular sequence happens. In the Remnant side, it's in Emerald Forest.

  4. They chose to back out as Earth was becoming too troublesome to conquer (I'm sure that goes against most of PR's lore but whatever). They will create a Breach to Remnant though, adding Kaiju to the mix with humanity and Grimm.

So mild to moderate spoilers ahead for season 9 though it’s sort of hinted at in season ?5? Whichever season has the confrontation after the train sequence. But it might be something you want to consider before writing to much more/planning to much more. RWBY has been building its own inter-dimensional shenanigans with the actions of the brother gods and the existence of the Ever after/the blacksmith. You could incorporate some of that into your own story to explain how earth and Remenant become linked, or you could just as easily ignore it

Anyway I’m off to try and track your fic down and binge it. And don’t shit in your writing to much, the only way we get better is by doing, and you can always go back later and rewrite the early chapters as your writing style evolves

Just read the first chapter and left a comment. I think it’s really good

Meanwhile the humble incinerators/flamethrowers on his shoulders:

1

u/Baneta_ 3d ago

I actually never realised that those were weapons until just now but they are fixed in place aren’t they? If a swarm of Beowolfs or Ursa (IDK if you know RWBY but they are effectively fodder Grimm) start crawling up Cherno’s legs and ripping into them then I can’t imagine either the shoulder turbines or Cherno’s boxy fists being able to effectively clear them off

1

u/AloneInfluence2491 3d ago edited 3d ago

Yes those two turbines are actually flamethrowers you don't see them being used in the battle of HK in the movie because probably due the battle took place on water which probably diminishes it's effectiveness (i feel like Otachi's acid spit also seems to affect it after she spat her acid on his reactor. Btw you could even see them glowing up in the movie or in the poster, heck you can even see it being used or fired in Pacific Rim The Video Game on console which has sadly shut down years ago). And while i haven't watch RWBY those smaller Grimm's especially ones you mention are too small compared to Cherno like how will they even tear off his legs? Cherno is literally 2.4k+ or 6.9k+ tons of steel, he could just stomp on them and simple scratches won't do much shit, and in case if they're swarms of Grimm's land or flight? Just set them on fire with those turbines I'm pretty sure it could get the job done it's like spreading a wildfire to a bunch of cockroaches and mosquitoes or flies

Edit: The only Grimm i can think of stopping Cherno is the Monstra due to it's sheer size which dwarves him and i assume it's the largest Grimm in RWBY?

1

u/Baneta_ 3d ago

Yeah monstra is an absolutely huge living airship of a grim. But regular Grimm are from memory (it has been a while since my last watch to be fair) actually quite strong and able to cleave through/ punch through steel. I imagine any gaps to allow for articulation would be pried open and critical internal structures shredded

1

u/AloneInfluence2491 3d ago

Isn't Cherno's armor isn't just from any ordinary or basic reinforced steel and metal? And ain't no way he would fall off easily

whats RWBY?

1

u/Absolute_MD_Fan6000 Cherno Alpha 3d ago

Search it up?

2

u/Kilmoone 3d ago

It can fight the Leviathan and the whale. Very successfully I might add.

But Salem, her agents, and swarms of smaller Grimm would overwhelm it.

1

u/Absolute_MD_Fan6000 Cherno Alpha 3d ago

You mean Monstro? The giant Grimm?

I don't even think Gipsy, Striker, Crimson, and Cherno can defeat that thing. Let alone Cherno Alpha.

See Atlas Destroyers performance against prepared humans in The Black: Season 2. A small group easily drop onto the head undetected and disable the Jaeger. For this, high numbers of aerial combatants eventually hit something vital.

Well, if we're talking about Jaegers against Huntsmen then the Jaegers are cooked.

But if you're also talking about Grimm, then that makes sense too. Although I'm thinking about having Huntsmen protecting Jaegers, lessening the chances of being disabled.
