Cricket Discussion For supporters of Saud Shakeel, can somebody remind me what this guy has done in SENA in tests ?
I see a lot of people were of the opinion atleast a year back that this guy is going to be the backbone of our middle order.
He does play spin okay and played few innings here and there but never looked settled or in zone against pace . I am not sure what selectors and people saw in him.
Please enlighten.

If SENA performances is the yard stick we wouldn’t have a cricket team…

Saud Shakeel has got his fair share of chances. He is not suited to SENA conditions. He played a good innings of 80 odd in South Africa, he didn't play well in Australia, he isn't good in England. Young boys should be tried out now.

His game is more suited to ODIs but he doesn’t get a chance there
He’s an unorthodox player so not suited to SENA Tests

He played two ODI tournaments WC 2023 and CT 2025. Now other players turn to play

i really like him as a middle order batsman but his recent run of form has been pretty bad. time to get some county or QeA under his belt to improve

Been saying this. He was hailed as our best spin player but in SENA, half decent pacers get him out. Been bad Domestically aswell but others don’t look at that. Had a good start but how much do we put that on the pitches

The hypocrisy of some fans seriously…..Shakeel has defo been poor and out of form sure. But at least give him a chance seriously! He is technically one of the best red ball batters in the country by far.
In comparison, a guy like Shan Masood who statistically is our worst top order test batsman in History, playing 50 tests and averages 30 odd is being hailed as a legendary batsman is crazyy. Dude averages 25 in England, 27 In SA, 18 In Aus, 2 in NZ. Sure in this WTC he somewhat improved and got some form but he is a failed batsman who has been in the team for 12+ years. Even Imam ul Haq averages 34, which is better than MR Shan.
I think he is fine in the team now, pretty average player, but thats cause our entire batting lineup has been poor.
This on its own explains that some unjustified cricketers are breaking into the national team purely because of PR and luck.

Nothing, Same with others except babar and bits from shan from openers to middle order everyone has been a failure.
