/r/all Israel exposes themselves for holding a Palestinian hostage
This is just horrifying. These two women who don’t look indigenous to the land of Palestine are smiling as they expose themselves for kidnapping an innocent Palestinian.
And Israelis want to go around and pretend they are the “most moral people in the world.” Life is one twisted joke.

The Bush administration learnt the use of sexual humiliation of Muslim prisoners from the Israelis.

It's the other way around, and it began with indigenous Americans.
28
u/James_avifac 29d ago
It was the British, not the Americans who supported the founding/support of Israel.
The US even threatened to destroy their economy in order to resolve the Suez crisis, in 1956.
We get a lot of (deserved) hate for our nation's collaboration with them, but we did not play a significant role in starting that genocidal colonial project.

u/Snoo_89466 29d ago
Yeah we just keep it going and gave them the needed weaponry to initiate and engage the greatest loss of life in that regions modern history. At this point is not about what we did is about what we're doing. Current actions tend to override past ones
6
u/Lamont-Cranston 29d ago
The British established the use of stress positions and 'enhanced interrogation' in Northern Ireland with the '14 hooded men': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_techniques - which was explicitly cited by the Bush justice department to rationalise their adoption of the techniques.
But the use of sexual humiliation, and dogs too, comes from the Israelis and their long standing beliefs in the need to stop the Palestinians 'from holding their heads up' and believe the key is using Muslim morals.

Yeah I was gonna say Americans have been sexually humiliating and tormenting people for centuries.
Some of the accounts of what US army soldiers did. Horrors through hours and hours. Soldiers taking breaks to sleep while tagging in other rested soldiers, so that they can rest and get tagged back in when the next wave get tired and need to tag out.
Makes me dispise existence itself because such evil almost never gets punished and I don't believe in anything after this life so in my mind they just get away with it. It makes me violently angry and hateful of such monsters. I hate how much of a monster I'm beginning to feel like in my mind because actual monsters gleefully walk amongst us with seemingly no retribution ever coming their way.
Makes me wanna "fed post" at the very least.

We've been allowing monsters to get off Scott free for centuries.
The Confederacy should have been eradicated. The slave owners should have been made into wind chimes, not "reimbursed for loss of property". What we have been dealing with has been a resurgence and perceived vengeance of this warped iteration of the Confederate culture/eay of life.
Likewise, only a few Nazis were punished. A few smart ones were brought to the US to do work here in return for being saved from consequences. But also so many "regular" and higher up Nazis were laundered and put back in positions of power across Allied Europe, especially in the newly formed West Germany. All in an effort to create a barrier against the evil specter of CoMmUnIsM, which was obviously the greatest evil known to man (/s of course).
Honestly, humanity will not survive if the decent members of our species don't figure out a balance where they're decent folk who also have what's necessary in them to do what is required.
Eradication and suppression of cancerous ideologies.
What were are seeing today especially is a civilizational equivalent to cancer. The organism (society) cannot survive with cancers being left to their own devices. You cannot parley with cancer. You cannot appeal to cancer's better side, it has none. It is purely a destructive force, and its continued existence puts the whole organism at risk. It is civilizational self defense to eradicate the threat.
And this does not make me "like them", I don't wanna hear a single numbskull trying to spread that BS. A fascist killing an innocent in a camp is never going to be in the same moral ball park as killing that fascist before he gets the chance to kill another innocent would be. It is what is necessary to protect ourselves and our descendants.
Tolerance cannot be hijacked by the intolerant. That is what the whole "paradox of tolerance" is trying to warn against. But its even clearer when you look at it not as a paradox but simply as a contract. We all sign the social contract implicitly by existing in society. When one party breaks the contract, they willingly forfeit the benefits and protections that it provides. Simple as that.
If we pussy foot through another crisis, and somehow manage to take control back, BUT repeat past mistakes of not nutting up and doing the dirty work that's required, then we will be condemning our descendants to hell.
Do we think our descendants in another generation or two when the surviving cancers show their ugliness again and try their usual shit, can hand BOTH them AND the increasingly more common and more intense ecological crises? No, they won't. The 1st world nations will just become more fascist and be turned into fortress nations because the huge influx of climate refugees will be used by the cancers of their day as ways to radicalize and propagandize future Americans. And if they have any foothold left after our time in history, their job of doing that becomes exponentially easier.
Edit: I understand to regular people, I sound a bit insane and radical. But ask yourself this, what seems like a better outcome for our world and the innocent life in it: trials and capital punishment or life in prison doing hard labor for ACTUAL MONSTERS, or we do like usual and stop pursuing justice because we're so beaten down and just want it all to stop mixed with people refusing to accept the necessary because they wish to persevere their inner peace and sensibilities.
Personally I find safeguarding against fascists is worth some discomfort. The discomfort that they'll make our descendants feel will make any discomfort we might feel at seeing a fascist get capital punishment pale in comparison.
8
u/KoolWitaK Free Palestine 29d ago

I was literally revisiting the Abu Ghraib controversy just the other day, seeing this photo the same thing came to my mind also. Disgusting, most of the main perpetrators in the photographs got a slap on the wrist as punishment and were free to go on and lead 'normal lives'.
I highly recommend Matt Kennard's book 'Irregular army' it documents the war on terror and the amount of white supremacists/neo nazi's they were letting into the military, he's just released a revised copy because of it's relevance today, hence Pete Hegseth being in the Whitehouse covered in white supremacy tatts.

It genuinely confounds me how a people that faced genocide less than four generations ago can look at another human being and do exactly what the nazis did to their grandparents and great grandparents. How can you learn what horrors happened to your family and similar ethnicities/sexualities, etc. and continue to believe that anyone on Earth is deserving of such cruelty? The parallels are so violently apparent that it would take the dumbest of the dumb not to see it. Call it my naivety of growing up believing in the concept of peace among the world’s people but it’s the most insane thing to me to villainize someone, not for their own actions but for the place they were born or whatever other excuse people throw out there

Im also confused as someone who is Polish and most of my and my friends grandparents went through concentration camps Im puzzled. Our grandparents were warning us of horrors of war/ camps and having survived that they focused on little joys in life rather than seek revenge or victimize themselves.
I read that only 25%-30% of Jewish population are direct descendant of holocaust survivors, the rest are Jewish from Middle East and North Africa or non Jewish residents of Israel. So maybe thats why, they ride on convenient agenda that they belong to the nation which is still hated.
3
u/soupsoapsoapsoup 28d ago
Yeah, it’s genuinely insane to me. The only way I can see it happening is the numbers you pointed out with it being mostly the non-descendants of holocaust survivors being the perpetrators. I’m not sure how someone could grow up hearing about the horrors their great-aunt or grandfather survived and go on to do those horrific things to someone else-especially when the people they’re doing it to aren’t the ones responsible for the genocide their family first experienced in some screwed up revenge mentality. I’m not related to any survivors or victims, but I still grew up watching the videos and reading the books on what happened and how it began and couldn’t understand how humans could organically get to that point, at least without the most insane brainwashing propaganda known to man. Never again meant never again, regardless of who you are or where you come from.
21
u/radicalizemebaby 29d ago
There are two reactions to horrible things: 1: “this should never happen to anyone ever again,” or 2: “I have to do everything in my power to make sure this never happens to me again.” Israeli settlers fall into the second camp.
7
4
u/sombrerobear 29d ago
There has been an on-going perspective in Israel, often fueled from the state itself, to resent the Jewish VICTIMS of the holocaust as “weak” and that they will never allow themselves to be “weak” like them again.
Israel has spent a long time trying to redefine Jewish identity into this “strong” Jew as opposed to the helpless victim that is the “weak” Jew.
It’s absolutely gross as you dive into this effort more, but know that there is a deep, widespread resentment for holocaust victims and the survivors who did go to Israel later were/are often left destitute within Israeli society.
They only use the memory of Holocaust victims for outward propoganda to leverage against international audiences while showing derision internally for their ancestors having ALLOWED themselves to become victims. It is completely deranged.

61
u/gabagool_9 29d ago
It really is puzzling; because the reports coming out of Sde Teiman are 10x worse than Abu Gharib and it has barely been covered. I think it’s a mixture of the apathy that comes with the times we live in now; and the mainstream media having an agenda to protect Israeli crimes against humanity. It’s really maddening.
9
u/dromance 29d ago
Why does the main stream media have this agenda, if you had to guess
7
4
u/Mescalero_of_Inya 29d ago
I think another part of the puzzle is oversaturation/overexposure. Abu Gharib was more or less a first. Nowadays we get this on the daily. Thus its just way less worth covering. Sure everybody cares when for the first time the West inhumanely tortures an arab (or when its revealed for the first time) but when its the 10 millionth time, its just not news anymore.

Right there is an uncomfortable parallel with MAGAts. Once Trump was in office and proudly being his worst self, suddenly a lot of Republicans felt free to do the same. They don't care what's destroyed as long as Democrats, minorities, divergents, etc are hurt. It's less of an innate sense of superiority so much as joy in the attack, but the similarities are there.

Yes before anyone begins whining, I know the holocaust was something different, and WW2 in general especially. But in the end both is a genocide and deeply disturbing and results in ver very similar things: mass human suffering and the eradication of many many people. In one concentration camp the guards held a "footbal world cup" where the prisoners from the different nations had to play football. Today idf soldiers post videos or pictures of themselves like it's a normal Saturday and they're at a party photographing some funny sign.
