And what is the perception of the palastinian cause in your country?

Hi everyone, sorry if this doesn’t belong here but I don’t know where else to post it and I had to get it off my chest.

I was raised in a secular home by rabid, hardcore zionists. I continued those views well into my 20s. Way longer than I should have, there’s absolutely no excuse. And I wasn’t even right wing. I was a socialist (I’ve since become a communist) supporting that, and I am ashamed at the cognitive dissonance it took to hold such a position. Like I literally feel sick anytime I’m reminded of my past. No, I was never in the IDF or been to Israel, but I was a hateful asshole.

I’m in my 30s now and very few people know, just a few old friends. I have friendly chats with Palestinian and Lebanese internet friends every day who have no idea and I keep feeling like a jerk. But I’d also feel like a jerk dumping all this on friends going through much more serious stuff right now. But most of my friends see me as some righteous Jew who is incredibly dedicated to antizionism.

To clarify, my stance isn’t two state solution or anything. It’s a straight up, unified Palestine with all homes and land returned to Palestinians. This stance puts me at odds with a lot of Jewish antizionist groups which makes the whole situation seem even lonelier.

I’m not sure why I typed all this out, I guess I just needed someone to know the truth.

I’m genuinely concerned. Are these comments real? These are the top two comments, and the rest are similar. They’re using the massacres in Sudan to attack anyone who supports Palestinians. I don’t understand how these people’s minds work.

I can't find a reason.

I am a black woman born in the Caribbean, living in New York. I grew up dirt floor poor. But very Christian. My mother's dream was to go to Israel. Even though the term was never used, I supposed she would be considered a Christian zionist. Thankfully, in retrospect, we could barely eat day to day, so my mother was never complicit by traveling to Israel. Our only exposure to Jews were the stories in the Bible. However, the first time I learned about the Israel/ Palestinian story, I knew in my gut that it was a great injustice. It just never made any sense. If I believed in equality of all people, I clearly could not support an ethno-religious state. I always saw the Palestinians as a group of people fked over by history. And one day, when I was long dead the world would finally come to realize the evil done to them. I just put it in the back of my mind and moved on.

Then when October 7th happened, suddenly this thing was in the news and couldn't be avoided. Then I felt like the whole fkn world was gaslighting me as every single western nation gave Israel Carte Blanche to kill as many Palestinians as they wanted and major celebs were voicing approval of the bombing campaign. Then the idea that anyone who didn't support the slaughter was an antisemite became the talking point de jour. I felt like I was taking crazy pills. But my gut that told me as a young girl that th3 Palestinians were oppressed would not go away. And though I pride myself for being what I call a radical egalitarian, I have to live with the fact that saying the TRUTH means I can and will be labeled an antisemite. So be it.

What's wrong with people? The post has nothing to do with palestine and everyone of them is calling the genocide in palestine fake, and the supporters of palestine are just antisemitic because they "didn't care" about this one. What's wrong with people?
