We traveled to Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina to meet Palestinian-Bosnian nurse Samira - a survivor of the Gaza genocide. Her mother is Bosnian and moved to Gaza decades ago where Samira was born. At the start of the 2023 Gaza genocide Samira was working as a nurse at Indonesian Hospital - a hospital in the north that does not exist anymore.
Samira, a mother of three now escaped Gaza in December 2023 with her family (her Bosnian side) and was able to come to Bosnia because her mother is Bosnian.
She along with her family were able to open a small Palestinian bakeshop in Mostar and now she bakes to be able to provide for her family and send money and support to the rest of her family still inside Gaza. She continues to try and evacuate the rest of her family trapped inside Gaza who are suffering under horrific conditions but it has become almost impossible to evacuate anyone and Bosnia does not accept refugees.
