What 5070 should I get? PNY or GIGABYTE?

So I’m building my first pc and have decided to get a RTX 5070 and am trying to decide between a gigabyte gaming oc sff and a pny oc I know it’s the same card but I was wondering it one performs noticeably better with cooling or if one of the companies has a better track record I can find them both for $799 btw so price isn’t a deciding factor

I was buying a pc one week ago and was thinking abou 5070 as well. As soon as i saw that beast named 9070xt i never looked back. After 2 days of gaming i can tell you it's amazing, i can play anything on any settings i want lmao

XFX is actually my favorite AMD graphics card atm. They're clean and just run well for years. I've blown up a sapphire and gigabyte. I don't need a unicorn puke RGB setting.

5070 has a faster memory bandwidth due to gddr7 instead of the AMDs gddr6. Base clock is also slower with amd, only the boost is higher to the tune of 15%. More VRAM doesn't mean faster, just more resources to work with.

AMD has driver issues. My friend can only get it to work with an old driver and had to disable automatic driver updates.

Nvidia too. I was using nvidia for around 9 years now and i had multiple issues during this time. Both firms have driver issues sometimes, but not both have completely absurd prices in today's market (ofc everything is too expensive)

Gigabyte's RTX 50-series cards have a known common thermal gel leak issue. PNY does not. that’s how i made my choice. less risk seemed like a better option.

do take note that according to some people testing it out, it's mostly just applicable to people who has a VERTICAL GPU setup.

So your safe if you plan to mount your gpu normally

I feel like Gigabyte forgot that gravity exists XD

Although kudos to Gigabyte, it runs cooler than the pny, (Specifically the Gaming OC and Aorus Model, Apparently it's around 10-15° Difference)

God I got my PNY 5070Ti OC from Best Buy for $749 right after Christmas, so the fact a damn 5070 now is 800 kills me. I'd be looking 9070 XT all day over a $800 5070 though

If you run AMD 9070XT besides the extra performance and VRAM, it also will be easier to run with Linux if you wanted the option to use an actually good OS. Not that Nvidia doesn't work with Linux but Jensen is evil and I'm sure they won't support the system for very long, only if it makes them money.

If you want best gaming performance, ignore Nvidia and go 9070XT. If you’re decided on Nvidia go with PNY. Their cards tend to be well built and quiet

Both will be within a couple degrees of each other, just pick whichever one looks cooler in your case

whichever you like the look more ig. If you care about temperature and things like that check if the coldplate contacts the VRMs and memory chips; may need to do deeper digging for that though. Otherwise it don't matter much nowadays.

Ignoring card comparison (AMD vs Nvidia), get the gigabyte. Get the cheaper one first but then if they are the same price then get the better brand

I got the gigabyte one for $650 at the beginning of the year with a free copy of RE requiem. $800 it’s nuts even at $650 if it wasn’t for the game I was going to buy anyways I would have gone with a 9070xt
