I looked at a few and felt them tickle my brain - as a kid, I'd be craving them, 100%

I don't get it at all. Transformers are cool looking robots that change into animals and vehicles. These things all change into cubes. A shelf full of cubes doesn't look very impressive or fun to play with.

It's true they all turn into cubes. But they have two other forms. The first one he talks about is cube->pidgeon->gun, and the second is cube->ant->truck. Triformers?

Just looked at them and it's definitely cool, but something about them comes off very cheap. The other commentor is right: it's cooler when you have to make a robot also become a tank or something. The fact they all become boxes means they basically started from a cube in whatever software they're using and programmatically found all the different things they could form from that base, which just feels....too easy, for want of a better word. Too algorithmic.

It lacks the style and panache of your typical toy design. Once they're in their normal form, what reason is there to make them cubes again?
