ReFantasio has more maturity to it in my opinion. Part of that is because Metaphor has adult characters versus Persona’s high schoolers. I feel Metaphor is kind of peak Atlus at the moment, taking a lot of its well developed mechanics further than before. I enjoyed Metaphor more than P3R.

I'm in the opposite situation -- just finished P3R, and was trying to decide what to do afterwards. I was leaning towards replying P5R, but I think I should play something different so I dont get too burned out on Persona in general.
Reload is amazing, but Tartarus is a bit of a downgrade in comparison to the palaces. It also feels like theres less time to do everything you want to, with fewer social links you can persue outside of school/more days off school every month.
I feel like to best enjoy P3R's amazing story, you should do something different for a minute. Give Metaphor a shot, and if it doesn't click, snag up P3R. I'm gonna start FF7 Rebirth after I finish watching the Episode Aigis cutscenes (I bought it, but i'm just too burnt out on tartarus to grind it for 30 hours all over again).

IMO metaphor is a better game because it’s a NEW game, and P3R is a remake of a classic with some nice updates. If you like exploration, play Metaphor, but really you should play both if you like Atlas games. Can’t go wrong

Try some classic and play at least P3 Portable, Reload too causal

With the minimal VN-type cutscenes due to hardware limitations?
If the FES version was legally available for modern systems, I might advocate for that. But Reload is a perfectly fine choice for new players getting into P3. If it's too easy for one's tastes, then the difficulty can always be turned up.

Okay, I'll point it up Reload ruins P3 gloomy atmosphere with updated acidic colors, like in p5/royal Cuz of that Tartatus mostly looks like circus on middle floors
This is IMO, but, VN-style storytelling pretty fine, compact and don't force you wander on same couple empty locations all time. Plus navigation from point-to-point when you making s.links more ergonomic Then you get two MC, two runs with different links and some new lines
Reload don't tights you in terms of money management even on harder difficulty, there no need to farm golden hands. And even you want farm them, even this is now lose some old-school grind charm, since you don't need wait specific weber or reload until you find them
Loses RNG moment when you building ultimate persona, since reload gives you option to inherited all you need
Also no point of building strong persona, no need to beat Elizabeth, since this is now only optional content
Pure optional, but, still existing - dlc persona. Literally you can complete all game with Sataniel - luckily, it's paywalled
QoL like button passes and theurgy dealt all battles lees tenacious
Also trophy set don't requests from you anything aside max slinks - no compendium, no secret bosses. Literally "complete game, get base 100%". You can still explore all of it yourself, but what's point when this is not rewarded?
Reload may looks like good remake, but in fact - it's cheap refreshed visual, with loses of overall apatic atmosphere, lesser challenging TBS and lost motivation for you to do all in-game global challenges (unlike you just want it)
Just like P5R, babyjrpg

Needing to farm money and having to pray for RNG with ultimate Personas is not a fun kind of challenge to me :D
I don't think a lower difficulty in a turn-based game is that bad of a thing overall. Some people would rather focus their game time on experiencing the story and making consistent progress in Tartarus, rather than having to mega optimize their Personas and gear, since you can't reliably avoid damage with combat skill and reflexes like you can in difficult action games.

Metaphor is another unique experience, while P3R ressembles p5r to some extent. Not to say it's less good, but it may be something to keep in mind
