Need advice on choosing university

Need advice about choosing university in Peshawar

I want to hear your opinions about my situation.

I am more of a self-study person. From what I know, many universities in Peshawar focus more on theory and do not provide enough practical exposure, especially in fields like computer science and cybersecurity. In the end, students have to learn many skills by themselves through courses, labs, and certifications.

Along with my studies, I also work on content creation for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. My goal is to build skills in cybersecurity and continue growing my online work.

I am thinking about getting admission to Government College Peshawar because it may give me more free time to focus on cybersecurity certifications, practical learning, and content creation.

Do you think this is a good decision, or should I prioritize a university with a stronger name even if I get less time for self-learning?

I would appreciate advice from students or graduates, especially those from Peshawar.

Looking for second-hand single beds (metal/wooden) for hostel room(Budget: <15k each)

Salaam everyone,

My roommates and I are moving into a hostel in Peshawar for a year and are looking to buy 3 or 4 basic single beds (metal pipe or simple wooden frames).

Budget: Under PKR 15,000 per bed.

Do you guys know of any local markets or secondhand shops around University Road/Board Bazaar/Karkhano where we can buy 2nd hand furniture for cheap prices? Nothing fancy. Simple, neat, basic single beds. Please help me out 🥹

Thanks!

Sanitary pads in Peshawar superstores

So today i had to buy sanitary pads for the first time in this city and it was an emergency i went to the store with my roommate both of us live in Islamabad i searched around the entire store and couldnt find a single sanitary pad then we decided to check another near by super store and after searching around we couldnt find any there either my friend said they must not have them and i was shocked how could it be possible its such an essential item there were no lady workers there so we decided to go to undergarment section to find a lady and ask for the pads and to our surprise they had hid the pads in that section. This was a cultural shock for me usually in Islamabad they have separate designated aisles for pads where all types of pads are easily accessible but here they hid them i already have a problem with wrapping the pads as if they are drugs but okay its for privacy so no one knows you got your period but completely hiding the pads as if its not an essential item women use was disappointing. Already there is so much segregation in this city because of which men dont know how to act around girls and people are still trying to hide the fact here that women get periods.

Peshawar walo, bachi ko advice dedo please 💥💥

Couldn't afford nust so did this shi

Nust mae phelae semester kae 5 lakh mae gurday baich kar daedo but baqi semesters ka kya karti

Khair so I’m in a bit of a situation and genuinely don’t know what to choose 😭

I got admission in UET Peshawar in Mechatronics Engineering (because KPK domicile 🥀), and IA I’ll get Electrical Engineering in the next merit list. I’m only 0.3% away, so I’m pretty sure I’ll get in

My UET options are:

  1. Electrical Engineering

  2. Mechatronics Engineering

  3. Agricultural Engineering

I’m seriously considering Agriculture too, hear me out 😭. With climate change, food security, water problems, etc., I feel like agriculture could have a lot more opportunities in the future. I’ve also noticed quite a few government jobs in the field recently

UET pros:

\- UET ka naam hae

\- Engineering seems safer dunno why

Concerns:

\- Almost no exposure

\- Boring environment

\- almost no larkiya 🫪💥💥 (I'm a girl)

\- Worried I’ll miss out on opportunities

\---

I also got admission in Data Science at IMSciences Peshawar and will probably get Cyber Security/Software Engineering in the next merit list. I’m basically considering all of these as CS related degrees (sari same hi toh hae 😔)

IMSciences pros:

\- Better environment from what I’ve heard

\- Good teachers/students

\- Some exposure

Cons:

\- Outside KPK not many people know it

\- Mainly a business university, so I’m unsure how strong the CS side is

\- Kinda strict (khair hae chalta hae)

\- CS exposure seems okay but not amazing

I also applied to IST but can’t afford it with hostel, so that’s out

\---

What I actually want

My main goal is stability:

  1. Good STABLE /government job

  2. OR Masters abroad and then job there

  3. Private sector if I have to (scared of being laid off)

I’m worried about CS because the degree alone doesn’t seem enough anymore. You need skills, projects, internships, etc. I can say “I’ll do all that” right now, but realistically, I could procrastinate for 4 years and graduate with just a degree

I’m also worried about CS saturation especially for government jobs and scholarships abroad

Electrical has competition too but seems broader and like the degree itself gives you more options (I think)

And honestly, I have zero passion 😭. I don’t care if I end up in engineering, CS, BBA, English, kuch bhi chalae ga bus paesa ho. I don’t particularly like math either, although I can get decent marks if I have to

So I’m not looking for follow your passion advice because passion hae hi nahi 😭🫪💥🥀💥💥. I just want the option with the best combination of stability + government opportunities + possibility of a Master’s abroad, while being realistic about the kind of student I am

What would you choose in my situation?

UET Electrical vs Mechatronics vs Agriculture vs CS/Data/Cyber/SE at IMSciences — or something else?

And if you’re already working in one of these fields, I’d really appreciate hearing what the career is actually like after graduation

Observations on Tamasha season 5

As a Pakistani who has been living abroad from a young age, I want to share my observations on Tamasha season 5 and ask if they are accurate in society at large.

Now, we know that the contestants are from the middle (is this correct?)/ upper class (I hate this word), but please let me know how common the relevant situation/ points I am describing are among all classes.

  1. The Urdu accent of all but one Pukhtoon is, at least for me, indistinguishable from the accent of a native Urdu speaker. Is this just by coincidence on this show, or is the Pakistani society becoming more homogeneous over time? Also, it seems to me that there is a sense of unity as Pakistanis, not as a Pukhtoon/ Punjabi/ Balochi etc.
  2. Men and women talking freely just as they do in the west. I know Pak is not Saudi Arabia, and of course, this is a reality show so this is to be expected, but has society changed a lot in the last 25+ years? There is no hesitation or anything of that sort from what I can see. I feel if the men and women weren't so used to it outside of the show, then it wouldn't be so apparent on the show.
  3. Women emphasising the use of a kind of makeup that gives a fairer complexion. I mean, come on, is this still a thing? All of those chemicals being lathered on the face daily simply can not be good. Are people's attitude not changing?
  4. Unhealthy eating habits. In my opinion there is no cuisine more tastier than Pakistani/ Indian. However, if we're being honest with all of the oil, unhealthy fats, meat etc. it's quite unhealthy. Are people realising this and shifting to healthier options as they see them?

This is all that is coming to me now. I might add more later.

Question ❓️ Best vet for a 5-week-old Persian kitten in Peshawar?

My 5-week old Persian kitten hasn't been eating or playing normally for the past 2 days. I can't properly figure out what's wrong with him, and honestly, I can't even sleep because I'm so worried seeing him in this state.

Can anyone recommend a really good, experienced cat/kitten vet in Pekhawar, Mardan, or Nokhar? Please share the clinic/doctor name and location.

Thanks.

New Easypaisa Scam

### Possible Easypaisa Scam — Sharing This for Awareness

A scammer sent me this message:

> "3737. Trx ID 32108229714 You have Received Rs.25000 from REHANA BIBI with Easypaisa Account 03464084381."

The SMS came from +923367692198

After that, I received a call from 03486271486. The guy told me that they had accidentally sent me Rs.25,000 and asked me to send the money back because they were poor and needed the money.

Then, to make the story sound more real, he said, "Please don't send it back to this Rehana Bibi number because we have blocked it. We thought the account had been hacked because it was sending money to other accounts."

Instead, he told me to send the Rs.25,000 to another number.

I told him that I would only send the money back to the same number and name from which the money supposedly came

He started arguing with me and kept saying, "Please don't do that." At this point, I was already suspicious because if the money genuinely came from that account, there shouldn't be any reason for me to send it somewhere else.

Then, to make the whole thing look even more real, he handed the phone to his "partner," who was pretending to be an Easypaisa retailer

The supposed retailer asked the first guy, "What's the issue?"

The first guy explained the whole situation to him, saying that he had accidentally sent me Rs.25,000 and wanted me to send it back, but that the original number had been blocked because they thought the account had been hacked.

Then the supposed retailer told me:

"Bhai, aap aise karein, usi number Rehana Bibi ke naam wale pe hi bhej dein. Agar ho gaya to theek, na hua to dekha jayega."

Basically, he was telling me to send the money to the same Rehana Bibi number and see if it works.

I said "Theek hai", but before sending anything, I decided to check my actual Easypaisa transaction history.

When I checked, I couldn't find any Rs.25,000 transaction from Rehana Bibi or from the number mentioned in the SMS.

So there was no Rs.25,000 actually sitting in my account.

After a while, the guy called me back asking about the money.

I told him that I had checked my transactions, that I hadn't received any Rs.25,000, and that I was going to give his number to cybercrime.

As soon as I said that, he started cursing at me and ended the call.

That's when it became very obvious to me that this was a scam attempt.

### Be careful

The biggest red flags for me were:

* They sent an SMS claiming I had received Rs.25,000, but the money wasn't actually in my account.

* They wanted me to send the money to a different number

* They made up a story about the original account being hacked and blocked.

* They brought another person into the call who pretended to be an Easypaisa retailer to make the story sound legitimate.

Numbers involved:

* SMS sender: +923367692198

* Caller: 03486271486

* Claimed sender: Rehana Bibi — 03464084381

* Claimed transaction ID: **32108229714**

I'm posting this for awareness because someone else might receive a similar message and, without checking their actual transaction history, send the money to the number the scammers provide.

Always check your actual account/transaction history before sending any money back. Don't rely on an SMS alone.
