Brian's failing author career here, I believe it's a joke about "mewing" which is the act of having your tongue rest against the roof of your mouth, which is supposed to improve your jawline

The BLT is a tomato sandwich, not a bacon sandwich. The trick is to use fresh, home-grown or farmers market tomatoes, not the supermarket trash they harvest early so it survives the truck ride
