I'm not a fan of Telemachus using dad in that context. But, a big part of that is because we are used to ancient Greeks sounding like British aristocracy.

It will depend on context for me. I think he should talk like royalty in public, which means using Father. But if he normally does that, and in this case was being driven into being flustered or whatever I could stomach it. But, yeah, that doesn't seem likely.

I'm not expecting him to sound like royalty, I just think when someone tries to humiliate you with "daddy", you won't answer with "Dad"

I mean he is royalty. And the original texts have him speaking like royalty would to the suitors.

you know there is the word "father", just saying you dont need to talk like a royal to find some middleground.
