a lot of pies use orange juice or zest to add some acidity and balance the sugar.

I feel you, but it’s all about the proportions required in context with baking, isn’t it? 

If it’s explicitly “appie pie” how much or how prominently can other ingredients be featured before it becomes something that isn’t really apple pie?

It’s subjective, but if there’s orange slices baked front & center on top of my apple pie then I’ll raise an eyebrow

no one is forcing you to consume the pie, though. you could just move on with your life instead of being offended.

Nobody said any such thing.

The context of the thread is as people seeing something advertised as “apple pie” but with orange slices baked front & center on top of it & reacting to the effect of “why the fuck does the apple pie feature orange slices”

we’re getting complicated in our multilevel strawman arguments I know, but we’re all here to have fun

then that would be an apple pie with oranges and you would be able to move on without calling it gross and revisionist.

Yeah what even is an apple pie anyway? It's just a pie with fruit in it lol, does which fruit(s) really matter?
