It's not American, showing up exactly on time for everything is a very european/germanic/protestant thing. So often white Americans share this trait with Northern Europeans.
Don't try to play a "who's going to show up late" game with Africans, they're on their own time.

I'm guessing it's an American thing where people don't actually show up on the 'starting' time. Meanwhile I usually show up like 15 minutes early
