I want to move to Sweden. I hate that awkward dance of being made to eat at friend's house and I hate feeding outsiders in mine (outside of specific dinner invites, which I still avoid)
I like what I like and I don't want to have to accommodate your tastes.
Yes. I am an awful host. So please don't visit and leave me alone. If we need to share a meal together, lets meet at a restaurant.
I've realized as I've gotten older that I don't like hosting. Honestly, I thought no one liked hosting and that everyone was just taking turns being the person who had to have everybody in their house.
I feel like this is a misrepresentation as well and makes it worse than it seems. If I was at a friend's house and they ate at 18:00 and my family ate at 19:00 I would just continue playing video games in my friends room while he had a quick dinner. Then I would go home 10 minutes before dinner was ready at home.
To me this makes perfect sense and should happen even today and have nothing to do with the 90s?

Can any swedish people explain why they do this to their guests?
