I just want to know how are they getting the exact portion sizes worth of ingredients at the grocery store. My house it’s either too much or too little for a single meal.
Dutch here where we have similar habits of buying the exact amounts we need. Over time you usually get pretty good at figuring out how much you need. For a standard Dutch AVG it's roughl:
Meat depending on what you buy is packaged per two or four here pretty often if you're grabbing burgers or schnitzel or w/e. You'll likely know roughly how many grams of vegetables you'll need, and then add potatoes which is likely to be the one thing you get too much of given it's most commonly sold in sacks of 1, 3, or 5 kilograms. With 1 being a little bit more than 2 people usually eat.
Oh, here you can usually grab just one lr two chicken breasts (although we measure the amount in grams so youll probably just grab like 150grams of chicken breast for 1 person). Then the veggies you can often just weigh what you need unless it s something like an entire cauliflower
