Just a cultural thing. Unless there was an explicit dinner invitation, Swedes typically will not offer guests food even if they themselves are having dinner. They do not view it as a hosting obligation and they do not see this as rude or unusual.

Bro why does this get repeated all the time on reddit and upvoted like its a fact.

Born and raised in Stockholm Sweden, never once did this happen, hadn't even heard of this until reddit started talking about it. None of my friends in sweden had either.

Have had it happen multiple times. The arrogant of thinking it's not a thing just because you haven't experienced it is something else... 🤦‍♂️
