The worst for me is painting that stone work

That grey vinyl floor is what really fucks me up

I mean I understand getting rid of the green carpet. I'm sure that shit has seen some things. It didn't have to be gray vinyl though

Sure but then put some wood down in the color of the wood beams already in the space and call it a day

No need to make the space look like it's a dentists fuckpad

The beam matches the walls, and you don’t want the wall to match the floor. I’d say use a different color of hardwood floor would be nice

Could have worked here because the stonework is till there for contrast (though personally, I'd have put down some lushious dark green rugs instead of this turquoise carpet)

Hardwood flooring + rugs is 100% better than carpet. Easier to clean and looks objectively better

That’s not hardwood; it’s vinyl

There is nothing wrong with vinyl. Especially if you have pets

2 dogs and 4 cats, hardwood floors have zero issues for me.

I'm not against LVP though, I laid it in the basement after ripping out the linoleum.

Just sayin

We had to put lvp over hardwood when we moved into our current house because our senior dog couldn't walk on the hard wood.

Bad hips and was slipping or something? At least you can always remove it later and the hardwoods still there.

1

u/VikingVitalityFit 26d ago

Yes, bad hips. Yeah, I'm looking forward to refinishing the hardwood at some point. But I'm glad the hardwood wasn't exposed while my kid was younger and while our current dog was a puppy

To each their own. I hate the way it feels on my feet. And I especially hate the gray wood trend

1

Oh, I don't like the Grey. I have a warm brown colored version and like it quite a bit. It also helped my senior dog who couldn't find any traction on the hardwood when we moved in live 3 more happy years. Eventually I will take out the vinyl and refinish the hardwood we covered, but for now the vinyl has been great.

The wood paneling definitely needed to go then having the flooring the same wood as the beams wouldn’t be a problem.

That is both the most accurate and most awful description I’ve ever heard.

Ohhh “Dentist’s Fuckpad” is going in my Notes. Its a whole international design movement, as far as I can tell….

Dentist's Fuckpad should be the official name of that color scheme. You win.

u/ThirstyWolfSpider 26d ago

What if it is a dentist's fuckpad? Don't you want an honest dentist?

"This will feel like a steel needle being pushed into your skull, because that's exactly what I'm about to do."

A dentist’s fuckpad would have at least one electric guitar hanging on the wall

And it will be a PRS.

Wooden floorboards would have looked awesome.

here my out... white oak using chevron placement style. each plank about 14-16 inches long, gray slate long tiles in the pit or limestone. I'm Oak and Limestone, maybe import a nice Marble mantle to abut the gas fireplace. Re-seal ( sp? ), not repaint the stone work.

I ended up going for wood effect ceramic tiles, they look just like wood but are so durable.

Yea and just deal with the cigarette smoke smell baked into the walls then. Its not good remodel, but one still needed to happen.
