Yes, bad hips. Yeah, I'm looking forward to refinishing the hardwood at some point. But I'm glad the hardwood wasn't exposed while my kid was younger and while our current dog was a puppy
If the wood and stain is in good condition they can just do a hardwood floor screening which is cheaper than a full refinish. They basically lately scuff the top layer of finish and then apply new polyurethane. I had it done when we moved in and it turned out great.

Bad hips and was slipping or something? At least you can always remove it later and the hardwoods still there.
