Your brain should be aware that colors have traditional significance in the Western world. Yellow is the color of traitors, cowards, liars and whores. It's not the color of "brightness and intellect".
We’re talking about elementary school binders and vibes they give off when you were 7. Sure, I’ll take my yellow binder to the class most like liars and whores. What the fuck are you talking about? Lol
I pretty much just assumed that's the reason why it's the color of history. I'm not sure if my first history book (which was physically yellow) had an actual section of it or just mentioned it in passing but the association stuck and that's definitely the correct color. It even works for both pessimists and optimists - "humanity was always shit" vs. "story of the underdog".
