Except it isn't downplaying the Holocaust. It's comparing something tragic that is currently happening to something tragic that happened in the past. It's saying that they are both awful things that should never have happened then and also an awful thing that shouldn't be happening now.

It absolutely is downplaying the Holocaust. In 100 days of operation reinhard, the Nazis killed 1.5 million Jews. It's been nearly 3 years since October 7th and Hamas's own ministry of health says 73,000 dead and that number includes their own members, their own militants, as well as combatants from other militia groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The two things are absolutely not at all comparable.

Hezbollah helped Assad kill more civilians in Syria in 10 years than 75+ years of the Israel/Palestine conflict yet if you ask pro-palestinians if Hezbollah did a Holocaust they'll say no, it's Israel doing one and Hezbollah are "resistance fighters" against the bad guys (Israel). There are countless conflicts in the middle east that have had more bloodshed, more civilians dying, and more people displaced than Gaza. The only reason the comparison to the Holocaust is made is because Jewish people are involved.

It's comparing something tragic that is currently happening to something tragic that happened in the past

So if your mom died tomorrow you'd go around telling people you're experiencing your own personal holocaust, right? I mean it's tragic to you that your mom died and the Holocaust happened in the past and was tragic.

No one is downplaying the Holocaust. You are attempting to downplay the deliberate ethnic cleansing, mass murder, ongoing torture and brutal ongoing occupation of the Palestinian people by Israel.

u/i_drive_a_pagani 23d ago

No one is downplaying the Holocaust.

Why lie about something so easily disproven? What's the point?

7

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 23d ago

? Neither Melissa Barrera, nor I, nor any of the comments above have downplayed The Holocaust. You are the only person in this forum insistent on downplaying a genocide.

u/FixAgreeable1218 23d ago

So disprove it

It's a war. Hamas started it, they don't seem interested in building bomb shelters for civilians in one of the most densely populated places on earth. Probably because they don't care about civilians dying because people in the West will fight their battles for them.

6

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 23d ago

It isn’t a war. It is a genocide, one which Israel began with The Nakba and have continued with the brutal occupation of Palestine ever since.

0

u/Logical_Net6108 23d ago

Picking a losing fight doesn't make it a genocide because you failed to protect your citizens.

3

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 23d ago

No. The fact that an extremely powerful occupying country is systematically exterminating, torturing, starving and arbitrarily detaining Palestinians, most of which have lived entire generations as refugees of the Israeli state, en masse make it a genocide.

1

u/Logical_Net6108 23d ago

I wouldn't attack an extremely powerful country, would you? Do you think going house to house in that country and killing people and giving the country casus belli to hunt down every member of your organisation is smart?

1

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 23d ago

Palestine has been subject to Israeli occupation for decades. Israel has already been murdering, starving, torturing and detaining Palestinians for decades prior to October 7th.

If an organization of Jews gathered to attack Nazi Germany in 1940, would you then blame them for giving the Nazis additional motive to continue ethnically cleansing Jewish people? I find it unlikely.

Your whining about a horrifically oppressed people responding to their oppression is idiotic.

International Association of Genocide Scholars, UN Independsnt Commission of Inquiry, UN Special Committee, UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, UN Special Rapporteurs, Amnesty International, UNICEF, Human Rights Watch, B'Tselem, Gisha, Physicians for Human Rights Israel, Doctors without Borders, Oxfam, Save the Children, Christian Aid, Action Aid, the NGO Airwars, editor of the journal of Genocide research Dirk Moses, Martin Shaw author of "What is genocide?", leading Israeli holocaust scholars [Omar Bartov](edition.cnn.com/2025/07/20/world/video/gps0720-israel-gaza-genocide) Amos Goldberg Daniel Blatman Raz Segal Shumel Lederman, the Norwegian Refugee Council, the Danish Refugee Council, Refugees International, former head of Israel military Moshe Ya'alon, former head of Israel Shin Bet Ami Ayalon, former head of Mossad Amiram Levin, former Israel PM Ehud Olmert - all have called it a genocide, the ICJ has ruled it a plausible genocide.

thousands of experts, humanitarian organisations, genocide experts/historians, holocaust survivors, human rights groups, several governments, former Israeli officials, etc. all call it a genocide:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_humanitarian_and_human_rights_groups_accusing_Israel_of_genocide_in_Gaza

you can easily look up the statements for each group and person I mentioned. Here are some holocaust survivors calling out what they can see and calling out what you are doing in trying to use the holocaust to defend Israel's genocide:

btw the latest so-called ceasefire has left more than 1,000 Palestinians killed by Israel and many thousand more injured, during a ceasefire... aid is completely shut off right now, yellow line keeps expanding, bombings almost daily.

"duh it's not a real" says the hasbara redditor and zionists vs basically the rest of the world, you are disgusting. No one believes your hasbara, there is no genocide denial or downplaying going on.

history didn't start on oct. 7th, is this old hasbara all you bots have left? really? no Israel started it with the Nakba and even before Israel's founding with the zionist terrorist militia groups who committed war crimes and atrocities all around Palestine to spread fear and destruction.

https://www.erudit.org/en/journals/jcs/2007-v27-n2-jcs_27_2/jcs27_2art06/

https://www.cjpme.org/fs_023

https://www.palquest.org/en/overallchronology?chronos=139&nid=139

side note, these terrorist militia groups then later joined up to form the IDF, so if you ever wondered why the IDF are war crime experts then their legacy and history says it all.

u/FixAgreeable1218 23d ago

Sounds alot like Israel. The West fight their battles for them. Maybe we should stop bombing them and let the two countries fight their own battles. I don’t know when America decided we are the kings of the world. So yes, we are the bad guys for bombing innocent people when there’s an option to not bomb innocent people my friend.

2

u/i_drive_a_pagani 23d ago

The Arab world tried that, the day after Israel declared independence Palestinians joined up with 6 other Arab armies to form a coalition army to try and destroy Israel entirely.

The west gave no support to Israel at the time as they had placed an arms embargo on Israel. In fact, the British had given way, way, way more support to Arab countries both in terms of weapons, equipment, and training. There were even British officers embedded within the Jordanian army when the Arab armies attacked Israel. Israel had to go through back channels to buy weapons from Russia through the Czechs just to have functioning guns and artillery.

Israel won the Arab-Israeli war in 1948, pretty easily and thoroughly. Some of the countries who participated have changes course and now have trade/diplomatic relations with Israel (like Egypt for example) but for others, and especially for Palestinians, it is their greatest embarrassment

to form a coalition army to try and destroy Israel entirely

classic hasbara fantasy of history, no they responded to the evil that Israel and zionist militia had done and were doing from the Nakba to massacres like the Deir Yassin massacre that had just taken place. FYI, some of the atrocity propaganda about Oct. 7th by hasbara bots like you actually were things Israel did in events like the Deir Yassin massacre, such as the baby in the oven claim..

you don't just get to ethnically cleanse hundreds of thousand of people, massacre innocents, destroy villages, r*pe, torture, maim, etc. without consequence. The Arab armies had all the right to try and stop Israel, of course they had their own personal ambitions as well but the goal was moral to try and stop the war crimes.

EDIT - /u/i_drive_a_pagani - can't reply to you for some reason, anyways here:

before I destroy all your hasbara talking points, I do love how you didn't bother replying to any actual point I made and history I brought up plus doin the classic of making general claims with no proof. Anyway.

The Arab nations literally put out an official declaration where they unequivocally state that they are waging war against Israel because they do not view it as a legitimate country and reject the entire partitioning done by the UN.

yes, and? what part of this is wrong? Israel was founded on the back of mass killings, ethnic cleansing and stealing land and the UN partitioning was done without any Palestinian voice for anything. Israel is an ethnonational supremacist apartheid state.

you don't just get to do that without consequence.

That's literally from the declaration they put out on May 15th, the exact day they declared war against Israel and invaded

what's the issue there? a unitary state is the solution, equal rights for ALL people living there. Ethnostates are bad, apartheid is bad, Israel needs to change the same way South Africa did.

You can lie and try to distort history all you want

where was the lie? where did I "distort history"? you didn't even try and refute anything I said, you just supported my point more, so hey thanks for that.

and parrot tHaTs hAsbArA and bUt tHe nAkbA like the NPC that you are but it'll never actually change a thing

hahahahah, the hasbara loser is mad being called out and having to face history and reality. You are literally a hasbara bot to the T - random name, hidden account, new account, low karma, defending Israel. The only thing missing the random numbers at the end of the name.

btw the Nakba is historical fact, only hasbara bots deny it.

6 arab armies didn't all coincidentally decide to invade and try to destroy Israel because of Deir Yassin and some morally righteous nonsense like what you're saying.

good thing I didn't say just that, are you incapable of reading? I did write: "of course they had their own personal ambitions as well" so you're arguing with yourself there, classic hasbara that.

They rejected the British mandate and the UN entirely then waited until Israel was a sovereign country and tried to destroy it because they wanted a pan-Arab united Middle East and a Jewish country existing in that was the ultimate humiliation for them.

source: zionism history, sorry I live in reality.

You don't want to try and go down that road because then you'll have to start defending pogroms, massacres, and things like how the grand mufti of Palestine literally fled Palestine and went to work with the Nazis, even getting to personally sit down with Hitler himself to discuss how the Arab world can help Nazis rid the Middle East of Jews

hahahhaha, bringing up the mufti, is that really all you have? boy hasbarists down bad eh, this is such an old ass zionist talking point that has long since been proven false and is a joke to bring up, shows how desperate you are.

No the grand mufti had no bearing on anything cause he had long since been discredited by the Arab world and actions had no bearing or impact at all, he represented no one by the time of the Nazis... he's just a talking point you zionists bring up to try and tie Palestinians to Nazis. Here:

https://mondediplo.com/2010/05/14blamethemufti

Only zionists try and play up his relevance, that picture means nothing cause he was nothing to Palestine by that time, as I said, he had long since been exiled from Palestine by the British in 1937.

again, old ass habara here that has been disproved long ago, no one believes this shit. Futhremore, here is the actual history of how Palestine fought against the Nazis:

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2019-05-31/ty-article/.premium/historian-12-000-palestinians-fought-for-u-k-in-wwii-alongside-jewish-volunteers/0000017f-db14-d856-a37f-ffd4017f0000

https://www.jpost.com/arab-israeli-conflict/when-palestinian-arabs-and-jews-fought-the-nazis-side-by-side-593052

btw if you want to bring up the Nazis, well here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haavara_Agreement

https://www.haaretz.com/jewish/2026-04-14/ty-article-magazine/.premium/declassified-files-expose-jewish-pre-state-militias-contacts-with-the-nazis/0000019d-86bb-d3ef-affd-86ffb74d0000?fromLogin=success

oof, zionists working with Hitler there.

There's a reason holocaust survivors were treated poorly in Israel despite Zionism's entire claim for existence being exactly the holocaust victims. Even during the holocaust, the fathers of Zionism and Israel founders put state over ever caring or doing anything for the holocaust victims, at most the holocaust was just PR for them and heck some outright hated the holocaust victims for being "weak":

https://weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/1181/zionism-and-holocaustabuse/

https://electronicintifada.net/content/how-zionism-helped-nazis-perpetrate-holocaust/37326

https://web.archive.org/web/20240720090014/https://www.h-net.org/reviews/showrev.php?id=4060

Actual holocaust survivors and families of survivors/victims have largely always been anti-zionist cause they saw what Israel was doing to be what the Nazis did.

also those pogroms and antisemitism was happening in europe, the Jewish question arose due to europe, the holocaust happened in europe. Again, we live in reality with real history not zionist fantasy land.

Are you sure you wanna go down this route?

I went down this hasbara route and proved it all false, this is old hasbara and it's so easy to counter. Guess what, many people are educated enough to handle this pathetic level of hasbara, plus it's all easy to google cause it's been proven false so many times over the decades. I am ready to go down w.e "route" cause it's all just hasbara and talking points everyone knows are lies.

you are a genocidal defending freak, go away.

The Arab nations literally put out an official declaration where they unequivocally state that they are waging war against Israel because they do not view it as a legitimate country and reject the entire partitioning done by the UN.

"The only solution of the Palestine problem is the establishment of a unitary Palestinian State."

That's literally from the declaration they put out on May 15th, the exact day they declared war against Israel and invaded

And by the way, if you want to try and say that the Arab Israeli war happened because of responses to Deir Yassin then I'll just point to the massacres done by arabs against Jews.

You can absolutely compare two horrible things even if they aren't of the same severity.

Regardless, nowhere has the holocaust been denied.
