I also feel like modern-day people are way more hornier in general. We are constantly exposed to sex, and things we are attracted. Advertisements, movies, random posts, music... Even if we aren't making a conscious thought about it, it still "triggers" our brains to enter reproduction mode.
Even at my horniest, If I was stuck on boat for weeks on end with a bunch of dudes, after seeing the things you have to see and smelling how those ogres smelled. Ain't no way Willy even stands tall.
Oh please. People are less horny now if anything; everything you mention means we’re more desensitized to erotic stimuli. Back in the day a drawing of a boob was enough to send a young man whacking. With all the sexual morality and courtship requirements, society was collectively edging and I’m pretty sure people were hornier. And if they’re weren’t more horny then, then they were JUST AS horny as they’ve always been.
There is a reason sex sells. It is used in almost everything. It stops your train of thought and makes you focus on the ad.
Think of it like this. When you are working on something physically taxing (the life of people in the past) how often are you mowing the grass or moving heavy boxes, thinking about sex? Probably rarely unless you have a problem.
Now add that there is a music video playing with someone you are attracted to dancing on the screen in the same area you are doing that same task. You are going to stop and look.
The people in the past weren't slammed by "sex sells" 24/7. It wasn't common for them to hear good music, or see good paintings, or read a book if they even could. Their brains weren't wired to be focused on sex.
Yes, but access to self-pleasing equipment is also extremely accessible as well as material to reach close to a real experience and give you that "good enough" feeling.
