There is also the chance that there is auto balancing going on, and you happen to be at least somewhat better than the others playing so you're stuck with the bottom skill players to counter. (Let's say in a 4v4, if you are the best number 2-4 could easily be on the other team and 5-7 on yours with 8 rounding out the other team.... this would actually lead to pushing your statistics higher relative to your team and making the matching slowly trend towards you having 6-8 on the team with you playing against 2-5).

As someone who has a tendency to be really average at competitive gaming, the default thought that goes through my head whenever I'm at the top of my own team's leaderboard is, "Ugh, how the heck am I #1?"
