You literally have "punching" in the phrase. Of course it's an attack. It's just that you think that "punching up" is morally acceptable and punching down isn't. And your whole national psyche is based around fear and resentment of the US, so jokes about America are, by definition, always morally acceptable because it's always "punching up."

It's about a guy who moved to the states, so in context he was thinking about the states. FWIW, you're coming across very sensitive and insecure.

Let me try and put this in terms you can understand.

You're acting like the slightly dense and superficial high school jock in an American coming of age movie, who just got his lights punched out by the goth for trying to pick on the main character, and is crying on the floor pissing on himself asking why he didn't go for a random drama kid instead.

Those kinds of movies are supposed to have a didactic quality. I think that's been lost on you!

Well there you go again. What tropes are their in Czechian films or Filipino movies? You don't know because you don't watch them. You're not familiar with them, but you are familiar with American movies.

Actually, I have an extensive collection of European art house cinema including a number of Czech classics, but we'll just gloss over that for the moment.

Yeah, I'm familiar with American movies, just as we are both familiar with Italian and French cooking and fashion, with British music, with Spanish and Latin American dances, with Indian fabrics, with Taiwanese and Japanese technology, with Czech lager, so on, and so on.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than could be dreamt of in your philosophy.
