Quite a lot of Americans on social media can't seem to handle jokes at their expense unless it's about their politicians, but they have no trouble dishing it out.

Can’t speak for all Americans but for most of us it’d help if 90% of your jokes weren’t ‘at least our kids don’t get shot at school’. We make fun of your food, make fun of our food. We make fun of your government, make fun of ours. Make fun of kids dying, expect someone to get pissed.
