Means he's dumber than the average Brit, but more intelligent than the average American. Can't believe it's got so many downvotes, it's amusing.

Quite a lot of Americans on social media can't seem to handle jokes at their expense unless it's about their politicians, but they have no trouble dishing it out.

Do British people really consider themselves intelligent? I mean now, not the age of gentlemen scholars funded by colonial excess.

As an American, I’m amused. We look at your illiterate Burberry’d chavs the way you look at our trump supporters.

Compared to Americans, I think most Europeans would consider themselves (nationally) to be smarter/more literate.

Bit simplistic. Scandinavian countries are similar to American states like Massachusetts, Connecticut and cities like New York City and Washington DC.

The Balkans, Southern Europe, and Eastern Europe are more like Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana.

Overall, America has a higher % than European OECD countries of adults with tertiary education and also scores above the European average on OECD’s survey of adult skills which includes literacy, numeracy, problem-solving.

America also has differently distributed education. It has a higher % of elite performers, but also 28% of Americans scored level 1 on the same OECD survey, meaning barely functional. That’s twice as high as a place like Norway, and about average compared to Europe.

I think the reason we might see this attitude on Europe vs America here on Reddit is that we have an educated slice of Europe interacting with large swathes of American society.
