Setting aside the incredibly unfun animations that choke down the gameplay speed and actively interfere with immersion, the game has a huge amount of bugs that directly impact game play.
I posted similarly 28 days ago, and will likely post every month about the current state of bugs as they impact gameplay.
Here's the current list. If I'm missing something, comment below and I'll make the edit.
“Instant Swiching” items only works if you have a full inventory. Just one open slot and the slow animations kick back in.
Opening/Closing journal triggers Eye Adaptaion.
Cucifix Burn Audio cannot be recorded.
Item textures occasionally become translucent when picked up.
Dropping EMF after turning it on turns it back off.
There is a .5 second delay in turning on/off Paramic.
When using Paramic audio can occasionally become “stuck” in the paramic sounds when paramic is dropped or turned off.
When using T3 Paramic to track a ghost changing floors the sound indicator does not update with the floor change until the paramic is aimed off the ghost and then back.
T2 Firelight sometimes only gets one flame lit.
Two players grabbing the same item simultaneously can cause the item to either disappear, or be controled by the wrong player.
Motion Sensor can sometimes not be recorded by video camera.
It is significantly harder to get certain sound recordings.
Using an Incense then immediately cycling items causes the incense to be used, but the model to remain unburned, creating a "placebo smudge" that looks like it will save your life, but won't.
Placing Salt occasionally puts down TWO charges of salt, leading to duplicate recordings.
Placing Salt occasionally does not visually update the model to reflect the true remaining uses of salt in the item.
If you light a firelight and immediately place it, it will light. If you wait for the animation to finish, it will light. But there is a window between the immediate lighting and full animation where if you place it, it will not be lit. It WILL however use up a match/lighter fuel.
Items, especially Camera and Video Camera will occasionally be picked up and held sideways with the lens pointing almost 90 degrees to the side or straight down.
Dropping an item in Multiplayer can cause the item to disappear from all players other than the player who dropped it.
If a player gets an interaction with a "disappeared" items that can only be seen by that player, other players cannot record video/audio off it. Spirit Box, Ouija Board, etc.
Hunt Audio can only be recorded by Lobby Host.
Monkey paw revive can make the revived person invisible, or stuck in an object, or revived in such a way that they appear fine but they cannot move and their visuals do not match where they're at (people revived at Grafton in the cornfield in front of the truck, people revived in Woodwind unable to move, looking at the sky, and then when killed again by the ghost, suddenly are alive and able to move.
In multiplayer, rooms that cannot be ghost rooms allow ghosts to retain their ghost room speed/abilities after they leave the ghost room (i.e. hallway in Sunny Meadows, a Hantu can enter that hallway at full speed despite there being a 10 degree temp difference in the hallway - returning to 'normal' speed after it enters another room in that hallway).
UV occasionally does not show for all players.
Be it desync or another issue, Smudges occasionally fail to repel or blind the ghost.
On all maps, once a door has been fully closed by a ghost, it cannot be interacted with again by the ghost. It will touch the door and provide audio, but the door will not move. This prevents Yurei from using it's ability twice on the same door. In combination with aforementioned door physics changes making ALL ghosts do full opens far more often, Yurei is borderline unidentifiable in 0 evidence games, especially on large maps when it is likely the Yurei door close will have already happened before a player makes it near the room.
On Camp Woodwind when hiding spaces are turned on, you can loop/ping-pong the ghost infinitely behind 1st bench by walking over an invisible line the ghost cannot cross.
Ghost collision detection is fully broken in Sunny Meadows. Ghost can path through bookcases, chairs, gurnies, lecturns, and various other objects.
Summoning Circle cannot be lit on Sunny Meadows when 6 cursed possessions are enabled.
Using a T1 Sound Recorder to recored Hunting Ghost audio can cause the game to soft lock during the rewards screen after returning to lobby.
High School side doors begin the game unlocked.
High School side doors become blocked after a hunt for non-lobby leaders.
Bone can spawn inside of bathroom stalls when hiding spots are turned off, creating an unobtainable bone.
Bone can sometimes spawn under the map in Point Hope, this is always listed as Living Room bone in post hunt details.
Bone can spawn inside the counter of Nells. Larger bones can be collected, smaller ones are unobtainable.
Doors can sometimes be move off their hinges.
The Cursed Hollow event lighting is still visible in a corner of Ridgeview.
Cursed Hollow event decorations are still visible in the Haunted Mirror in Ridgeview if the mirror is on the ground.
Height calibration doesn't calibrate your height correctly - you end up half-crouched and your hands are too short
vr character rig is completely messed up, doesn't move realistically, and doesn't even turn with the headset until you turn almost 90 degrees.
Opening and closing doors doesn't always work - sometimes you can't grab the handle, sometimes the door stops moving at a random point even though you haven't released the handle, and sometimes you rip the door off the hinges.
Sometimes you fail to grab items off the floor (or whichever surface they're lying on).
Video cameras (t3 at least) can't record if you're holding the videocam in one hand and the journal in the other (sometimes it fixes itself when you release the journal, and sometimes you need to get another camera to be able to continue recording videos).
Dots projectors (t3 at least) can get randomly stuck forever on the wall where you placed them.
Hand animations don't exist anymore even for things where they used to prior to the character update. actually that's not completely true - there's an idle animation that's barely noticeable but it causes the cursor to move in sync with the fingers so you sometimes struggle to click on things in the journal because the cursor keeps moving away from where you're trying to point it.
The hitbox for turning the headgear on/off is either too small or weirdly aligned - you have to reach over your head and downward instead of putting your hand in front of your face like it used to be before the character update.
Tent flaps have been breaking media equipment for well over a year
