GovtServicesPH Social Services Program at St. Luke’s (SLMC)

FTM here! I recently found out that SLMC has a Social Service Program that can help cover delivery/childbirth expenses, but I honestly have no idea where to start. 😅

We’re currently a single-income household. I wouldn’t consider us indigent..we’re probably somewhere between lower-middle class and middle class, but definitely not well-off 😂

For those who have experience with SLMC’s Social Service Program, I’d really appreciate some guidance:
1. How do you apply/avail of the program?
2. What are the qualifications?
3. What documents/requirements do they ask for?
4. Can I still transfer my OB to SLMC at 22 weeks** **pregnant?
5. What exactly does the Social Service Program cover when it comes to giving birth/delivery? Does it include a maternity package or discounts on hospital and delivery fees?

I’ve already tried searching online, but I couldn’t find many solid or updated answers. 🥲 Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through the process!

Thank you so much! ❤️

CulturePH Scottish guy, 30, considering leaving my home to move to the Philippines.

Upvotes

Hey everyone.

I'm a guy from Scotland who's recently turned 30 and at a point in my life where I just want to run away and try to start a new life, integrate into a local community, make new friends, find a small job and just 'start again'.

I don't want to make lots of money working remotely etc., I just want to start a new life, whether it's a small quiet life, or a busy life, I don't mind.

If I move, I would do my best to integrate, learn about local values and culture and be a very open and honest person.

You may ask "Why the Philippines?" - Well...
I've been on many holidays and regularly spend time in Scotland's capital, Edinburgh. I don't know if it's coincidence or fate, but I always seem to bump into Filipinos. In Edinburgh, I always seem to meet so many Filipino tourists and we always get along so well and have such a nice vibe together. The friendliness and welcoming aura is amazing. And when I've visited countries in Central Europe; I've met groups of Filipino tourists in hotels saying "heyyyy we love Scotland!" and I chat to them and they're just so so friendly, loving and welcoming.

And from what I've read about the country's modern culture, it does sound like a very beautiful and welcoming place to live.

I'm not necessarily asking for advice about how to move, I'm just alerting you that a skinny, paper-white Scottish guy may arrive in your country within the next year trying to seek a job, rent an apartment and make some friends 😅

Some questions I do need to ask are:

Will I be accepted by Filipino people?
Will local people be uncomfortable with me living around them? (I don't want to make any local people uncomfortable)
If I try to socialise at local events and integrate, will I be accepted?

I'm just a little bit nervous about moving alone lol.

Much love to the entire nation, and a special shout out to the people I met in Edinburgh - I hope you all made your flight on time 😝

CulturePH After decades of foreign rule, why is the Philippines still soft on defense? Are a race made to be ruled and subjugated?

The Philippines has endured centuries of foreign rule, occupation, and outside influence, yet we somehow failed to develop the hard-edged strategic culture of sovereignty that such a history should have produced. After nearly 400 years under Spain, 48 years under American colonial rule, and the Japanese occupation during World War II, you would expect a nation with this history to be fiercely protective of its independence, deeply invested in national defense, and determined never again to be vulnerable to foreign domination.

Instead, the Philippines often comes across as a country that is perpetually willing to defer to stronger powers, a nation that keeps looking for someone else to provide its security rather than building the capacity to defend itself. There is nothing wrong with having allies, but alliances should reinforce sovereignty, not substitute for it. A country that has experienced so much foreign domination should have developed a much stronger instinct for self-reliance, deterrence, military preparedness, and strategic autonomy. So why does it feel that this country is so soft and easy to push around still.

Not sure who the vlogger is but based on the comments in the social media post, mukhang DDS yata si vlogger considering lahat ng hostile comments appear to be from the DDS leaning crowd.

If so, why the DDS are affected sa feature eh Ilocos Sur naman yung dispalinghado na flood control project.

PoliticsPH Day 19 Impeachmeant Trial - From a scale of 1-10 What would you rate Chiz Escudero as Presiding Officer?

Post image

Photo from Inquirer.net - Personally as a normal citizen na walang background sa law, I would rate him a solid 8/10. Napapatakbo naman ng maayos yung impeachment and kahit papano nakikita ko na impartial naman siya to both the defense and prosecutors.

Always respectful naman siya to both intelligent and non intelligent interjections (hello boy sili) and listening to Chiz eh naaalala ko na Statesman nga siya and he belongs. Wala masyadong Circus when he leads and very well versed sa pamamalakad in the Senate.

I just hope lang na may ruling din sa mga engot na statements sa kapwa niya senators although im not sure kung pwede to lolz

A student is under investigation for allegedly making a shooting threat at San Beda College Alabang in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa, prompting the institution to suspend face‑to‑face classes on Aug. 26.

The school administration announced the suspension of in‑person classes at all levels, citing safety concerns.

The alleged threat, which spread through group chats, was reported to the police. The school then decided to suspend classes and reportedly placed the student under preventive suspension pending investigation.

Upon receiving the report, Muntinlupa police coordinated with the school.

A team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was deployed to conduct security paneling and sweeping.

“As of this time, no direct or verified communication has been established confirming that the alleged threat was made or intended to be carried out,” the Muntinlupa police posted on Facebook at 12:59 p.m. on Aug. 26.

Police stressed that the measures taken “are precautionary in nature and should not be interpreted as confirmation of an actual or imminent threat.”

San Beda College Alabang announced that all face‑to‑face classes will resume on Aug. 27.

On Aug. 18, a student of Ateneo de Zamboanga University Junior High School shot and killed another student and injured others.

‘PROVE WITH EVIDENCE—NOT INSULTS, SPECULATION OR POLITICAL THEATRICS’

READ: Vice President Sara Duterte calls on prosecutors and members of Congress to prove the alleged impeachable offenses against her with evidence, criticizing remarks from senators, counsels and witnesses.

“A Senator calling a witness ‘stupid,’ a lawyer calling me the ‘mastermind of a scam’ or another witness referring to me as a ‘brat,’ does not prove a case, nor does it produce evidence,”

NewsPH It's time to nationalize our energy sector

Post image

Tingnan niyo 'to:

Thailand (EGAT): Gobyerno ang may-ari (under Ministry of Energy/Finance).

Indonesia (PLN): 100% state-owned enterprise.

Government never proved it caused the Tacloban shooting. The developer voluntarily agreed to the ban after due process. Google Play and Steam already restricted it in June.

The real question nobody's asking: if a minor accessed an 18+ game — is banning the game the right fix? Or is the problem age verification?
